Spirit of NKS

Well, boys and girls...
Aires has launched their inaugural BOG to FLL this morning. As we were pullling into FLL H2 this morning, I noticed the safety zone was not clear because there were 2 firetrucks and a bunch of dudes in suits waiting to greet Aires at their gate. Apparently, Aires was taxiing behind us and was suppose to go to H2.
I called ops. Asked them, "Are you sure Spirit --- is suppose to be going to H2?" There was silence and then, "I think you're gate is now H4." How funny would that have been if our Spirit jet "crashed their party" by pulling into their gate? I didn't see BBB down there on the ramp welcoming them with open arms. Would have been a sure NOI for us!

Not good...FLL is becoming a true battleground! I don't know, but I think the only airline benefiting from all this is AA...

What are the loads nowadays? Are they still pretty good?

Load and yield are two diffent things: If you fill the AC's with a bunch of $9 fares then I'm thinken that your not yielding all that well, unless...... they buy all the stuff off the carts, have a bunch of checked bags, etc.
FWIW: NK seems to be making $$ but the gun sites look as though they are squarely pointed at them on many routes; Hopefully they start protecting their "turf" soon?
Happy Thanksgiving to all those hard working crews out there

Aires is flying Boeing 737-700s between BOG and FLL. FWIW, they have been granted route authority from FIVE more cities in Colombia to FLL by the Colombian Aviation Authority. Those five cities are:
Barranquilla
Cartagena
Bucaramanga
Pereira
Cali
Also, they are suppose to start service between FLL and JFK in "the next few months."
