Just went online to checkout their fares. They are a lot cheaper than us and probably more customer friendly. Guess we will have to see what happens here.

Almost all of the NEW flights in and out of FLL are going to be cheaper than Spirit. That is what companies do when they first introduce service so they can try and build a market.

The question is how long they can sustain those fares.

Or... how long can NK sustain threats from competitors in FLL?

Thanks Merlyn. I stand corrected...yes, the article says Bogota to New York City (not FLL to JFK).

The question is not how long OTHERS can stand to serve FLL with low fares, but how long Spirit can withstand the onslaught of competition it will soon experience?

With 28 airplanes, it is very hard for an airline of our size to defend itself going forward. The airline MUST get bigger and have more resources. I'm talking about things such as spare aircraft for irregular ops, multiple frequencies, customer loyalty programs, and much improved customer service.

Simply put, Spirit needs to develop the resources to defend itself against threats. That Zagat survey didn't help Spirit's cause...

I know that company very well, and I have to say that between Col. and US. service competition, ARE is the strongest here, better equipment and they are customer service oriented. They are continuing growing and planning to bring heavy equipment in the near future. I just hope this competition will bring NK towards an improvement if we still want to make money out of South American market.

take care guys/girls.

Aires is advertising all over APC, Airliners.net..and other places. Seems like they're in for a fight...
Well BBB...what is the strategy now? With 28 planes and FLAT GROWTH in 2010, we're going be eaten alive. NO company can survive in a extremely competitive environment if it dosen't improve service quality and invest in growth strategies. I'm starting to think that Indigo is not really sure what to do! They did not anticipate such an aggressive move into FLL by jetBlue, Virgin, Aires...etc.
Notice FLL-LIM once a week until May 2010? In the mean time, AA has 2 daily out of MIA...

Settle down, settle down!!!, lets not get our p**** in a twist. Nothing gets down overnight, and I am sure that INDIGO knows what's going on with their money.

I am also sure that NK knows what's going on, We know that if they could, they would get AC's overnight, Pilots, Destinations and Better Costumer Service.

Everything take a bit of time, specially nowadays. Easy come easy go, couple of small airlines come to mind.

Let's be optimistic, after all we still here, we are one of the few carriers to call a few crew members back and we are making a little money. We are just to anxious and we want things now. It wont happen that way.

IMHO don't think about it, don't dwell to much, and stay optimistic, it burns the same amount of calories.

About the trng for recalls, I talked to one of those guys, it was fairly simple, everything comes back quick, over roll NO SWET.

Cheers.

So whatever happened to that "FLL-LIM will go back to daily service in November" proclaimation by all the APC analysts?

All good points...but I agree with A320Flyer...think we got caught with our pants down???

So what happened with our total order of 65 planes? I just noticed that the Airbus Website shows 40 total orders now. Did we cancel and it was obviously kept quiet by management's request?
Go all the way to the bottom... Airbus - Press centre - Home
I remember very clearly BBB saying to us in 2008 recurrent that we have 37 more to come... in addition to the 28 we have. Also, the Airbus website did reflect that in the past....
Interesting...
