What's this place coming to. R.R. is trying to convince everyone that they do not deserve additional pay when they go above the call of duty. I do not mind going into an FDP extension to get the job done when appropriate. There should be nothing wrong with showing your employees a little gratitude when they go the extra mile. I wonder which side guys will lean to now. When employees go the extra mile it means high profit margins. Which equates to bigger bonuses and higher profits for those cashing in stock options. A little appreciation goes a long way.

Absolutely. This was going on at many more places besides spirit and the FAA is cracking down. fAR117 is about mitigating fatigue and if you are being incentivized to fly fatigued then there is a problem even if it's what you want. We are all professionals and should only extend if we are fit for duty but we are also human and extra money can and does cloud that decision. Listen, I love having the company by the balls when they need an extension if I feel good to do it but this email was the right thing to do. You can either extend or you can't. You don't suddenly become unfit for duty if they are not offering extra money.

As much as I hate to agree, I do. It is good that all this is changing BEFORE we negotiate for a new contract. Over the past few months and actually years, I would venture to bet that most pilots monthly earnings have significantly decreased around here. Maybe we can be done fighting over the reasons and see the writing on the wall and demand an industry leading pay system. Gone are the days of 100+ credit and that needs to be taken into consideration for the next contract. And I DO NOT MEAN trade things to get it.

Your point makes complete sense. I can see the problem with incentivizing someone to fly fatigued. It just seems like the company has not been very appreciative like they have been in the past. We continue to go down a path were more and more I feel that management and labour are on separate teams. This leads to no good. Virgin just gave their pilots an unprompted raise. Did you see Delta's profit sharing for 2014. Our company will not even cut the crap and pay the flight attendants an average wage. Makes me wonder what will happen come August. This place has so much potential. This could be a great company and a great place to work.

That is funny! You might be right. I am trying to keep a positive outlook. You have to admit, this could be a great place to work or just a stop on the way to a legacy. It is really up to the company. I am hoping for the first choice.
