I don't think it's the union's decision to arbitrarily start negotiations anytime, there is a due process, and as everything it takes time. If you were here prior to this contract then you know how it is.
Unity, patience, understanding the process, communication and information are the key to get thru this thing.

They could have submitted it on February 1st. Why the wait until May?
I think they already are. But we want everything yesterday. RLA letter of intent is going to be submitted by our union shortly and you should have received an email with the time explanation.

I throw up in my mouth every time i watch the news talking about flying.
I agree completly with you and im sure their doing negotiations right now. I do think the union guys negotiating will take into account what us pilots say and want but how good are they gonna be at doing it? We can only wait and see but when I see other airlines making decent profits and their pilots making bank I expect my pay to be equal or exceed theres. I ain't talking hourly rates eithr, I'm talking w2s. Who cares if I'm getting $140 an hour or $160 an hour I care about what my annual pay and benefits amount to. And my quality of life I don't want that to change either. I haven't seen an email yet but that's no bother, ill wait.
I agree about w2's. I would add, at least for me, that I don't want to work days off and stress over open time to get either.

This. I am afriad too many pilots at this company will see $$ signs and not realize that most likely if the company is putting it in one pocket, it's taking it from your other one. Want an hourly raise? Sure we will just make your health insurance worse, now you're really not making anymore are you really? I will vote NO on anything that has any concession in it.
