I'm not negating the fact that we are underpaid at ALL years in both seats, though.
I agree with you except I think just about everyone here except maybe the riddle kids have paid p
lenty of dues in this industry and we need a much shallower pay scale. Year 1 airbus captain at AA is $208, year 12 is 228. FO is $75 year 1, $132 year 3, and $156 year 12.

Agreed. I'm all for narrowing the pay spectrum. Let's put the pitting and selling out of different hiring groups behind us.

I get what you are saying, but those who forget history and doomed to repeat it. The only hope of avoiding a similar FU this time around is to yell from the mountain top and not forget.

I agree. I don't know of another pay scale as steep as ours. Especially considering it's a 15 year pay scale which makes it even worse. There are many of us here who don't have that many years left before retirement.

The legacy carriers got it right with the way they set up their pay scales. We should do the same.

The whole 15 vs 12 year pay scale seems to me a conundrum;

You top out sooner on a 12 year pay scale but is that because higher pay steps are eliminated?

I think where you may be missing the point is that most people would stay if it wasn't set up to only benefit those at the top. It also hurts those who have less than 12-15 years left, and we are hiring plenty of them.

I don't want our union to "cooperate" with management. I want our union to repeatedly kick management in the nuts, until we share in the success by the award of an industry standard TA.
So do you want "Standard" or "Average?" T
The reason I ask is because if you wish to have standard then you are at the wrong airline. Furthermore, if you want standard you will be at an airline that will eventually be reorganization at least twice in the next 30 years, just like the rest of the "standard" paying airlines. Its not hard math.

If you want "Average" with most of our work rules and head room to absorb the down times then you might be in the right place.

Additionally, if you want a union to kick Bendo in the nuts until they fall off you should have been working for an auto maker in DTW, I guess that worked out for them.

In the new environment of corporate america we need at a minimum a "positive working relationship" something that was amiss with our former "leaders"

cheers man
