Spirit of NKS
I had to read your verbal diarrhea for years on "The Pipe"..
Now, I have to read it on here.
I RARELY EVER post anything on here...
It's not my life..
I check in, check out, and go play.
Please stop trying to solve the problems of the world....
if you want to make a change, email your reps, call them, and when something comes out, vote accordingly......
But until then, please, for the love of this thread and our sanity, stop speculating every little piece of info you don't agree with.....
I love this job.....
I like working here.....
Could things be improved? Damn right they could.....
But all you do is whine and complain....
You offer ZERO in terms of a viable solution....
You just bellyache....
Think before you post.
Many NK guys and gals simply read only.......
Go have a beer, go fishing, see a movie, and let negotiations take their course..
Cheers....
By the way, if you hate it here so much, I hear XJT is looking for FOs...

I'm not speculating every piece of info I don't agree with. I was simply offering an explanation to the question I hear daily and that I had myself. I'm simply giving the answer I was given by the reps and committee members I spoke with on the subject. Everyone complains about the long van rides including myself so I went in search of the answer why. That's the answer I got and I happen to agree with it. I now don't complain about the rides and simply endure knowing that our reps know we don't like them and hopefully they will get shorter once we have a new contract because it's a win win for us and the company but not leverage we give away for free.

Statements that begin with "I'm just..." or "I was simply..." are always suspect.

The way I look at it, we are a major airline. We should look at where the other major airlines stay, and stay with them. We're flying the same airplanes, we should stay at the same hotels, and we should certainly get the same pay.

i like them. I don't want to stay by the airport, an extra 30 minutes in a van so there are 100's of things to do on a layover is worth it to me. What else are you going to do? Sit in your hotel room? Sit in a van, sit in a room, what's the difference? We need to get out of the lga hotel immediately, the contract says we should be in manhattan, i can't understand why we aren't there. I personally think we need a new hotel committee, and i have stressed that to the reps many times.

I also agree with this 100%. Maybe it is time for a new hotel committee.

I certainly understand your point of view. I don't particularly want to stay by the airport either but why drive out to long beach when Santa Monica is right there? Why drive to the galleria in Houston when the woodlands has the same amenities in half the distance or the intercontinental in dfw or Livonia in dtw? This goes back to an arbitration on what the definition of "metropolitan area" is. That's what I was told. On top of that you have to find a hotel that wants our business because not all do.
All said, I would rather sit in the hotel than sit in the van getting car sick in bumper to bumper traffic on a 13:45 overnight that then requires me to leave the hotel an hour prior to show. I just want a nice 4 diamond or better hotel with a few decent eaterys in walking distance and/or a 50% discount in the restaurant. After three squares a day I'm over my $50 in per diem so there's really nothing left for "things to do" like you mentioned. I'm at work, not here to go out and burn extra money playing. That's fine for anyone that wants to do that but it's not me. Besides, over a 30 year career, how many times can you actually see the sites in NYC, SFO, etc before it's been there done that.
What's the hotel committee done wrong? Why replace them? The lga hotel location sucks, but the hotel itself is nice, I just don't understand why we're in such a hurry to change everything. Generally our hotels are nice, in nice locations with plenty to do. But I will say that Laguardia location should be changed.

If we gave that up then we are responsible for our own 'discomfort', right?
