From a friend at FR the next upgrade bid should drop down to Sept '13 hires as many senior FOs are bypassing upgrade. That would make it even junior to NK. A merger may not be as bad as one may think.

A merger would be bad for me. I'm a sept 13 hire here and I'm not upgrading anytime soon.

That's what I'm expecting, pressure from the legacies on airports to limit gate growth by ULCCs, lawsuits filed or supported by consumer groups against Spirit and Frontier, ticket price dumping on competing routes, possibly pilot poaching and maybe full out merger.
Once the battle with the ME carriers is finished, I believe we'll be next in their crosshairs.
