Best part is apparently the passengers could watch the storm on a weather app on their iPads, but the pilots couldn't! Another great reason not to put wifi on planes!

Before we all find our biggest rock to throw I'll repost this that Joey Meatballs posted on a different forum. A meteorologist posted a moving radar with the airplanes flight path in motion. Given the situation I could see doing exactly what they did.

Cool video and I watched it several times. According to the video, there was a hole in line to the right of the aircraft. When they got the hail, there still was a hole again to the right of the aircraft. That hole closed up after they had past.

I am sticking to my original thought before the I watched the video. I still think that Delta, AKA Northwest, thought they would be on top of that Thunderstorm that they penetrated. If the video is correct, they could have flown through the hole that was closing up had they gone farther to the right.

FAA to Delta:
What we see here is failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men.

Everyday. I, like Ramrod, tell ATC where we are headed, not the other way around.
