People need to listen to exactly what members of our senior management team are saying. We have a certain senior executive stating at job fairs that Spirit will never be like working for a legacy and if you want to work for a legacy, Spirit is not for you. People need to listen to the language: he isn't talking about a lack of widebodies or lie flat seats...
It's such a cliche but you get what you negotiate, not what you deserve or what management states at a *******ned job fair

Who gives a **** dude? We have a Neg committee and that's what they are there for, to negotiate. It makes zero difference what they say at a job fair. It's airline management. EVERY SINGLE one of them are cut from the same cloth............

And you should care what they are saying. Negotiatiation means reaching a deal with these people. You need to understand their psychology.

Joe, you don't need to tell me. I understand what cloth they are cut from all too well. I just feel it's important for others to understand who may not be so enlightened. And it's important for prospective new hires to understand this as well. Eventually, the 'but it's better than my regional' wears off.

I sat in the jump of a United 737 the other day, great, great guys. The FO had been at Continental pre-9/11, no furlough and was holding a good line with the days off he wanted, no desire to upgrade. He was looking at moving over to the 787, but was afraid his QOL would go down.
9/11 was nearly 14 years ago! 14! I thought the movement was much, much better than the right seat of a 737. Granted he makes a good living, but 14+ years in the right seat? In a 737, it had a glass cockpit, but holy cow that airplane looked like it was over 40 years old! It was so loud! His hands were flying all over the cockpit flipping switches, dialing buttons, looking at charts, and he was the PF!! Paper kept spitting out of the printer, he was constantly pulling the throttles back as they moved around and he was working that yoke on the approach. I turn the wheel of my car a lot less when I'm on the racetrack.
Maybe I've become spoiled, but I prefer a more gentlemanly time in the air, a nice quiet flight deck, pleasant conversation and a cup of tea on my tray table.

Anyone who has been LCAL with 14yrs+ service can hold Capt on A320/737.. and maybe 756. He can DEFINITELY hold FO on everything except 747 (Fenced). Even if he choose 756 FO, he'd probably be getting WideBody Pay (76-4).
Anyone who is on the 73 (Fluff/Guppy) at 14+yrs as an FO is doing it by choice.

So today I write a poem for pilots, that works in FLL y MIA for Espirit:
Tell me truth, tell me lie,
Are you scared in the sky?
Is it for this test pilot dies?
Is it you, is it me?
Do you like your PS3?
Is that a tear I see falling out you eye?
If it wasn't for Fidel,
My mommy y daddy would never yell,
Little Havana reminds me of a place called Kalispell.
What has we done?
Gordon what has we done?
What has we done to CAL/NWA/USAiR?........

El Señor Clown claims to have passed the Delta interview in another thread. I for one quite enjoy his random interjections of poetry across multiple threads. Keep doing what you're doing, Señor.

Story does not make sense. FO in question had to be hired before 2000.. those hired in 00/01 were furloughed for a short time (think guys going back to 98/99 might have been furloughed too..!).

The CA had been with Continental longer, Check Airman, said he was around 45%. Both in their early 50s, very cool guys.

The friends I've had go to Delta recently are on the 75/76. They said they're looking at reserve for quite a while, flying holidays and such. They're used to it as they're all military, but being in the bottom 1/4 of a 12K-13K pilot group doesn't sound like much job security if the economy turns sour just a little. BTW, they are happy as clams!
But, you are right, we do need improvements on our CBA, I'm confident they'll come.

Don't you have anything better to do than stalk the NK thread? Spirit is hiring, if you really want to be over here. The monkey kings always need more of us to prop-up their banana tree.
Otherwise, why not ride your rainbow back to the VA thread and bring everybody up to date on the progress you are making as an ALPA pilot group?
