Payroll states they have NOTHING to do with the payroll deductions - even with their phone ext. listed. "It's an HR issue. Contact HR." Who is running this company!?

Youve based your life on INTEGRITY, of which this company has NONE.

ANY ONE OF YOU WHO TRUSTS YOUR EMPLOYER (SPIRIT) WANTS YOU HERE, AFTER *EVERYTHING* THEY DO TO YOU AND YOUR FELLOW EMPLOYEES, OPEN YOUR EYES.

Our union is overwhelmed, you and your family's safety net is no longer. You have been doing your job. Your company has been working against you. DO NOT FORGET BUT REACT. There is no future here. You are being used. Use until you can leave. You are better than this! Expect the same from those who control your family's life - a company that values it's employees. Without us they are NOTHING.

"New" longevity date? Thats a first, I can't wait until the lawyers get ahold of this one. To bad it will take a year for it to get resolved and then we will probably never see that back pay. It's time for something to happen, I don't mean we have to go on strike but the company needs to be held responsible for its actions. The only way they are going to start listening is when they are forced to. Really, what are our options? A judge in our favor, Obama taking over the airlines, or ALPA saying enough is enough.

P.S. Anyone want to pay for me to go to law school so I can be the on call lawyer for Spirit Pilots.

That is total BS! If they do that/this they are going to have an S load of pi$$ed off pilots on their hands. Pilots that will cost the company more money then what it would have cost them to keep the returning pilots on property with at least their original hire date. I just don't understand these guys... Doesn't management know that the pilot group is one of the largest stakeholders in an airline??? Can they really be that stupid??? Don't they realize that no matter what they do to labor, labor will ALWAYS come back to bite them in the ass ten fold one way or another? Small changes in the way the a/c are operated while still operating within company policy can cost them much more than they realize. Why would any one of us want to save a drop of fuel (the largest expense for an airline) if they treat us like that. I sure hope HR was mistaken... It could get really ugly.

Two flights a week is a drop in the bucket, but international growth is better than a kick in the face. I hope it's profitable...we're definitely the only ones doing this.

They should announce this later today.
Yes, we are the only and FIRST one to fly to SKAR. In fact, they extended the runway and made modifications to the building just to accomodate NK, I hope this is worth it.
I have to say that it is an awesome approach and beautiful sight!!!

Spirit posts profits in the first half of 2009
Brendan Sobie, Washington DC (09Jul09, 14:21 GMT, 266 words)

Spirit Airlines claims to have turned a better than expected profit in the first half of the year, but warns the outlook for the second half is murky.

The low-cost carrier's CEO, Ben Baldanza, says revenues for the first half of 2009 came in below budget but costs were below budget by an even wider margin. As a result, he says privately-owned Spirit had a higher than planned operating margin.

But Baldanza adds he is not sure if the carrier will be able to stay profitable in the second half. He says the outlook for the second half is "grey" and points out for Spirit there are more off peak months in the second half of the year than the first half.

He says May was relatively weak for the entire US airline industry and this often indicates a weak fall. "Demand is a little weaker than thought in part because fuel prices are starting to creep up," Baldanza says.

But fuel prices in the first half were significantly lower than last year, which helped Spirit achieve a higher than budgeted reduction in costs.

Baldanza says Spirit has been profitable since 2007, or one year after Baldanza took over as CEO and embarked on a major restructuring which focused on reducing costs and dramatically expanding the carrier's Caribbean and Latin American network. Based on DOT data, Florida-based Spirit last year turned a $7 million operating profit on revenues of $661 million.

Baldanza says Spirit's balance sheet is also in relatively good shape. "We'll finish this year with more cash than we started the year," he predicts.
