I just got the email for a Schmoozefest in Seattle later this month ("we reviewed your app and want to talk to you, etc.") and was wondering what the outlook is. I'm currently at a regional and will be commuting from SMF to wherever, and right now my commute is decent. Just hit second year pay at my regional, so not as bad, I guess, but I'm looking to move on, of course. Background is mostly mil (~3k, IP time, now 500 at the regional).
I see a ton of contractual strife in your main thread, so that's a little disheartening, but it's got to be better than here, right? Maybe commuting to LAS? Shorter reserve time? Pointers appreciated, thanks!

Don't worry about the strife. It's something that happens every time a contract comes around. They have it over in the Delta and Southwest threads as well. There's even a little in the United thread, and they just got a raise with basically no change in work rules. Get a couple more years on the civilian side, and you'll figure out how things work. Which is basically that pilots like to complain about everything, even when things are going relatively well. And I would recommend coming to Spirit's than staying at a regional. Even if it's just a placeholder for somewhere better.

Yes, many came when the industry was down, we knew what the pay was. Now, the industry is up, profits larger than they've ever been. As the profits are cyclical, so are the wages. It's how it works.
So YES, they/we are worth it! Every penny!!
WE WILL SETTLE FOR NOTHING LESS.
Cheers.
