I get that you and Embraerpilot probably work for crummy outfits and are treated like garbage. I understand that you want to get to a 121 outfit and fly the big jets, but you need to understand some things:
Flying an A320 doesn't make you any more marketable than a 23 year old flying an RJ.
Jyri/Bendo will come into your class and tell you that we're getting a big raise - this was the case when I came here 3 years ago. I'm still waiting......
When Jyri/Bendo's lips are moving, they're lying to you!
The union is not the enemy, so forget about whatever you're told by management.
Your pay check is going to really suck for the first year and every year that you're an FO.
Based on current orders, you will NOT upgrade here.
Morale is very bad and within 6 months, your attitude will be just as bad.
Training is a mine field, especially for guys with no 121 experience. You need to be running before you hit the ground!
We have crummy non rev benefits and very little incentive for management to improve that situation (unless you like to fly on Air Malta....)
Just remember that you were forewarned.
Good luck!

This is a spot on post and what I said 5 pages back and I got blasted by a few. Its good to see a current Spirit pilot understands this. I left a ULCC to go to a real airline bc I knew what Spirit was and never tried to make it something it wasnt. When I was hired at brand x ULCC I knew the pay just as Spirit pilots do. I hoped for increases but I also wasnt smoking some good stuff and saying we will get a UAL or DL contract with all the hard and soft pay, work rules and benefits. I find it umbelivable that one goes to Spirit and then acts appauled at the pay when they knew it going in. Once again I do belive Spirit will get a contract but it will be on par with Alegiant. If you want a good contract then stop complaining and go to an airline that has one. I know many that left RJ Capt. jobs to go to Spirit with the thought that it would get them hired at a legacy and I warned against this and now it has backfired on them because they werent able to jump others in the hiring line with that all coveted Airbus type. As JustMeAgain stated if you are an RJ guy who is a Capt or almost a Capt. stay put and get your time and wait for a real airline to call dont go to a place like Spirit or Frontier!!!!

Allegiants contract would never even make it to a vote, in fact the NC published Spirit's offer 18 months ago that looked slightly better than what Allegiant eventually signed. If you have no dog in this fight, then go away. If you do work at another airline, help us bring up the basement and better this industry. Pilots are running short, and airlines that cannot attract quality pilots with fail. I do not want Spirit to be one of them.
Spirit offer DOS:
5 year CA $160
12 year CA $186
Allegiant contract DOS:
5 year CA $180
12 year CA $216
I also want Spirit to be able to attract qualified pilots, but unfortunately there is nothing I can do to achieve that. This dilemma falls into Management's hands and unfortunately they can't see the forest through the trees.

I agree with you that an Allegiant's type contract would never make it to a vote. However, the company's offer 18 months ago was NOT better than the contract signed by the Allegiant's pilots:

12 year CA $186

12 year CA $216

Bingo PlanePirate. The last proposel from the company was less hourly and took away work rules unlike what these other clowns are saying. I wounder if they even know what they are saying half the times. The company will come back next round just at or 3% above Allegiant and they will gut mostly all good work rules which will be a loss of 10-15% so in the end it will be a loss. This thing will drag out for years not months from now unless you are willing to accept something like Allegiant. IF YOU WANT BETTER YOU MUST LEAVE ITS THAT SIMPLE. It will be much quicker and easier that way belive me.

S T F U. you worked for a LCC in the past, great. That means you know everything that is to come I guess. If you think we will end up taking a loss you need to a serious reality check. Pay will go up by a good margin and we will have to get rid of a few work rules, not most. I personally don't think we will make magic happen but the cash cow that is Spirit won't go down due to staffing and that would be the outcome in the current environment we live in if a company decides that pilots are not worth the money. Look at Air Whiskey offering a 39k first year sign on bonus, the writing is on the wall my friend. At the regional level they literally made half of what they do now just 3 years ago.
