Or maybe they got word of what this contract is buying them in terms of candidates at the FLL job fair this past week. Can't grow without pilots.

I doubt they have realized they have a problem. But they do. I went back and did a quick look back. 5 of the last 7 guys who I have flown with have apps at mostly AA but DL and UAL too. That just because I am FLL based I think. Seems like only the old guys are planning on staying. The moment AA works through the guys that are coming back from their overseas contracts FLL will be suddenly short of FOs. Not to mention holding CA in FLL is a pipe dream for any new hire. Might as well sit reserve for AA out of MIA.

This is a drastic change from 2 years ago when almost nobody I have flown with wanted to leave. Nothing surprising about it.

Both the amount and quality of applicants has noticeably decreased. With the hiring up to 32 a month puts a strain on the recruitment process for individuals that don't have skeletons in the closet. the attrition this year has been the most they have seen in years. Mostly first year guys. it's starting to be noticed at the management level. Maybe a new contract would change that. Maybe not though

It's going to take a **** load more than 58/hr year one and jet blue -5% to fix that.

Exactly. It shouldn't cost a penny of our negotiating capital to raise first year pay. This is in the company's best interest to do so. The only way we can staff for this expansion is to attract pilots and retain them. Let ALPA get us our piece of the pie, let the company pay for staffing the airline.

My frustration has been growing for a long time with the current contract and my speculation as to the next contract. I am at the point now that I will vote no to any TA that is not industry leading in all areas. Yea, I know I will get grief for saying we need a industry leading contract if we are stuck with it for 5 years plus, but with the industry leading margins and industry leading management pay, I will hold out. So I am guessing already what my vote will be. Since we never got the Quid for the contract relief last summer that we were promised, I am now holding out for massive gains. Goodwill right?

In still waiting for an official response about our quid for June. If they are tying to use it as leverage for a better contract then they need to just say so so I can add it to what I expect. Otherwise I see them as two different areas of compensation that are way past due and I'm calculating interest.
