Disgusting, absolutely disgusting on the companies part.
I was also a friend and while I wasn't an every week acquaintance, I did have dinner with hime shortly before his untimely passing. He was the same guy that night as usual, full of caring concern and love for his kids, especially his youngest daughter. Anyone of you who heard the suicide rumor and gave it credibility obviously didn't know Jim. RIP

Can they afford industry average and still maintain ULCC status? maybe, maybe not. If they did and Spirit is eventually a 150 a/c airline, what's stopping Eastern, or Braniff IV as a newly growing, 2 yr upgrade, upstart ULCC to take over?
So back to reality, maybe they can afford it, but they simply won't pay it. This is how it'll play out. This **** show will drag on for the next five years, while at the same time paying peanuts (subsidizing their profits as some put it). When the strike happens or is imminent. A 5 year TA will pass that mirrors allegiant/frontier/jetblue while losing transition and 4 days off. 10 years down the line when that contract is up, it'll be 5 more years of status quo...rinse repeat.
Next thing you know it's been 20 years and time to retire, then you realize you've been duped.
I'm not saying you shouldn't expect or fight for industry pay, but this is how it'll likely work out.
You see a lot of bright eyed new hires right now drinking the koolaid, thinking they're getting in at the beginning of the next big, great airline. Upgrade quick, get parity pay quick, and have a long and prosperous career, all backed up by HOPE.

"allowing the company to underpay"? lol The only way to not allow them is to leave. When are you leaving?

It's not going to get better and it has nothing to do with me. All one can do is vote, and any substandard TA should be voted down. All I'm saying is that while is sounds great and all, it simply will not lead to industry parity.

What am I supposed to apologize for? I posted that there was only 1 CA open trip for the 31st which was correct. 3-5 of January is another story. You see me as the resident antagonist because I've seen how this company handles negotiations, and post that reality. I'm a troll because you don't like the reality I'm dropping on you. Happy new year, and good luck at your new carrier.

For you guys stating that pay is tied to profits are you suggesting the same that if profits tanks you should make less too? I'm guessing you wouldn't advocate pay cuts If profits drop. But you swear by legacy pay Because we 'are most profitable' argument.. If pay goes up from here because profits go way up... I wanna hear you be fair and advocating pay cuts when profit dries up...
I'm Just playing devils advocate , because somesay profits WILL dry up and these guys will be nowhere on here... It's a business..none of this is personal.. I'm a serious NO vote based off numbers I've seen, but that's based on the total package. I don't take it personal bendo wants pay us as little as possible... My job is to make as much as I can for myself..for as little work as possible...the people writing the checks and the people cashing checks have vastly different goals.. And that's capitalism.. I will vote no until we get what is IA which we are far from...but y'all that ***** and Moan and take it so personal are the same as the McDonalds employees that whine for $15 an hour..

As much as you want to disassociate yourself with the burger flipper, in the eyes of the employer we are one of the same. You should be encouraging them, you're on the same team. Keeping their wages low is not going to raise yours.

Absolutely get it while you can! And we should, and I'll hold out until we do. It's all about leverage.. And first time since deregulation we have quite a bit of leverage.. And I plan on voting no until I see something fantastic.. Difference being I don't take it personal...you buy a house, do you go in full ask price? Or do you offer Lower amount in hopes of a good deal? It's negotiating 101. It's how business works. Thankfully it's a 'sellers' market... And we have the leverage to accept nothing short of full ask... Times are good and we will, and deserve more. Market forces indicate that.. But I don't take it personally.. It was a pathetic offer...they know it, but can't fault them for starting low... Why wouldn't they? They are smart, and cheap.. Usually 2 traits Very wealthy people have..

But that was not an initial ask. It's just the first one made public. That was after 10 months of "negotiations"
Parity for all or it isn't parity at all
