Don't worry there is plenty of help from the tumors on the standing available lists.

I threw up a little in my mouth reading that latest negotiation update. I think we are really kidding ourselves. The only thing these management folk understand is profits, profits and profits. And the only way to stop the profits is going to be a work stoppage. IROPs, chaos, incompetency, the cash keeps flowing into the company's coffers and gives them no incentive to negotiate. The only thing, the only thing we have in our favor is the movement of airplanes, that's it. The planes dont move, the company doesn't make money. Berating guys about asking for paperwork or fuel, availability lists, none of that crap matters. It's like worrying about the river drying up because you throw a rock in it. Planes not moving off the gate is the only thing that will make management serious about negotiating.

They will just drag this out until a merger with that other shi.thole airline Frontier is announced and then we can wait another 3 year for a joint contract . I swear I can't update my AirlineApps account enough.

I don't think they can merge this place fast enough. "More planes, more money!" Happy customers, who cares? Happy employees, who cares? The only thing that matters to management is bigger bonuses and higher profits.

I can't help but lose any respect for the people that sign up for standing available. Is it greed or just stupidity? Then again this is Spirit, so probably both.

Both.. Go back some pages and read how jetcap or something put it.. "Gotta get mine now!"

Most I talk to say "well if I say no or don't do it, someone else will do it.. So now I'm losing money... "

Worrying about guys who pick up open time or put themselves on the available list is like worrying about rising sea levels and running to the ocean to fill a couple of buckets with seawater.

It's more a symptom of an apathetic pilot group that is concerning than the material effect

What are you talking about? A work stoppage is a strike, the fact that the only real way to get management to eagerly pursue a new contract is the threat of being released for to self help. Making that statement or believing it is NOT illegal. Everything else we do, from berating guys for picking up open time, to not calling for paperwork, to any of the other things we think will bring management to a serious discussion at the table amounts to a hill of beans. Money is all that matters, if the money is at risk, management gets worried. If the money keeps flowing, then why change anything? Here's a definition I pulled up on the Google: Strike action, also called labor strike, labour strike, on strike, greve (of French: grève), or simply strike, is a work stoppage caused by the mass refusal of employees to work. A strike usually takes place in response to employee grievances.
