It'll be blamed on weather, there's no doubting that. This place is really starting to feel like a big pyramid scheme.

No personal squabble here Sir.

I merely pointed out that someone from 18, a council that just last year attempted to disrupt the MEC by filing Article 8 charges on the FO Reps from both 77 and 109*, is trolling for a recall in 77.

I repeat trolling for a RECALL in 77.

Rainbows, you are asking for us to "stand together", so I assume that you oppose people who are attempting to foment a recall in someone else's base. Am I right?, or do you support recalls during negotiations?

No one in DFW is threatening recalls. Of course recalls are always an option, but they are a NUCLEAR option that is to be avoided at all costs. The 170 so pilots who have signed up to support a Local for DFW support a Local for DFW because we want a local voice in the way our union operates, nothing more.

WE are attempting to gain a Local, not blow up the union. Looks to me like Ralph supports blowing up the union. Which of these approaches is likely to result in "standing together"

*The Article 8 charges were withdrawn in once case and defeated in the other.

Gentlemen, hoping for some "flame free" advice. New hire, eligible for Health Insurance next month. I had originally planned the Choice Plus B Plan, but HR did a pretty good job of selling the Choice Plus Diamond Health Plan when they popped in our training class. Just me the wife and a soon to be 2 year old. Just now getting a chance to look it over post training and IOE. The Diamond seems too good to be true. Curious as to opinions, obviously everyone's needs are different. Appreciate any advice and insight.

Depends on how much you're going to use it. If you're young and healthy get the cheap stuff. If you're old and falling apart like me get the good stuff, I've had two MRIs this year and they cost me nothing. That kid has a lot of potential to use insurance too.

Guilty. I did resign from the MEC Chairmans position before my term was up. I'v'e learned things since then. Grown up a bit if you will.

I'll be happy to tell you why I resigned/quit. In his first day in office, the newly elected 109 FO Rep asked me to arrange a conference call for the purpose of electing a new MEC Sec/Treasurer. The then Sec/Treas wanted out and they wanted to elect a new Sec/Treas in time to get him into the upcoming ALPA Sec/Treas Conference at Herndon. I informed him that an MEC Officer election required a, properly called and bulletined, meeting in which the Officer was elected in a one man one vote ballot. I promised to call the ALPA National Sec/Treas Capt Chris Beebe the next morning to ensure that our new Sec/Treas would be able attend.

I declined the conference call election because and MEC CAN'T elect (nor recall) an MEC Officer on a conference call. Doing so is against the ALPA C&BL's.

They went on that night, against my Constitutional advice and without my knowledge, and held a conference call meeting to elect a new Sec/Treas. One of them duly submitted the meeting minutes to ALPA National. I woke up the next morning expecting to call Capt Beebe and arrange for ARM, their choice for Sec/Treas, and instead found a message from ALPA's elections lady chewing my tail for trying to elect a MEC Sec/Treas on an illegal conference call.

To recap, the MEC completely disregarded my C&BL's knowledge, went behind my back and attempted to perform an illegal action, and I received a reprimand from ALPA National for what happened.

So yes, I told the MEC that I would resign at the next MEC meeting and did so. The MEC needs to have respect for their Chairman and vice versa. The pilot group deserves as much.

I suspect that I did them a favor. Live and learn.

Now then, what else would you like to know? I guess I'll just thank you for allowing me to explain.

Check out the EPO plan. Very good coverage with lower premiums. Only catch is there is no out of network coverage. Like said above though if nobody gets sick the diamond plan is the best.
