This is my hope. Not my expectation. But I've learned in life the lower your expectation the more happy you are

Typical, right out of the old management playbook.
I can tell you that if there is a business plan of some sort, it will happen regardless of what we demand or negotiate.

They will announce LAX as a new crew base. Too many crews in that long beach hotel. They'll save money having us flip the bill to stay in LA.

Lax is probably the next likely base, sadly. I like Long Beach. I highly doubt Bob is bringing in the union to announce that or are you just speaking generally about Lax?

I agree, I doubt the CEO would announce he is going to meet with the union just to announce a LAX base. However, with the opening of recent bases, was the union consulted in any way? Maybe, consulting with the union in the idea of closing one base and opening another?

Also, my understanding is for the size of airline we are and will be in the near future, aren't we a little heavy on the number of bases we have in the system? If you look at the other airlines, not counting the big legacies, I think this may be the case. Thoughts?

I think more of a driving force would be the scheduling of flights. I'm no expert but having pilots in base I would think would allow more flexibility and utilization of available gates. I would honestly watch FA hiring to predict which base will open since FAs are still hired to a particular base. Atleast that's my understanding.

What about an announcement of a C-Series order?

The FAs are hired to a particular base, in fact there was a FA open house in ATL, that caused confusion with FA hiring for an ATL base, which ultimately wasn't the case.

That's interesting. A purchase of another type of aircraft would definitely require the Union to sign off on it.

I could see them signing off on a new AC order with the promise of a new contract and good faith bargaining in the next few months.
