This simply isn't true. Yes, the company switched their shipping to UPS. However, we still get the FedEx discount as line pilots.

You are not going to upgrade at Spirit, according to the fleet plan.

Well here is the company email that was sent out to us. After this took effect both of the FedEx locations that I used did not have Spirit listed anymore.

Subject: UPS Replaces Fedex

Effective May 5th
Attn: All Spirit Team Members

We are excited to announce our new partnership with UPS, effective May 5th. UPS will replace Fedex as our shipping provider and provide Spirit significant cost savings.

Team Members who are currently “shipping users” of Fedex will be contacted by UPS via phone and/or by email starting April 28th to begin the transition. UPS will also have representatives make in person visits for locations with specific shipping needs. All shipping users will have their own log in information, and should have successfully accessed the UPS shipping system by May 2nd. UPS supplies will arrive by May 2nd.

Effective May 5th, all shipments must be routed via UPS.

UPS Team Member Benefit Program:
UPS will be rolling out a Spirit Team Member discount program providing significant discounts for personal shipments via UPS. This program will replace the current Fedex Team Member discount program -- which expires on May 23rd.

Additional communication for this benefit will be provided in the next week.

We are proud to be partnering with the world’s largest package delivery company and the leading logistics solutions provider positioned to support our company in its service and technology needs.

Thank you.

Remove names and emails. That is an internal email that probably shouldn't be made public.

I do know of a Capt who received an invite for a Delta interview, but after further consideration decided he was not interested. Good seniority, good qol, holding out for the new contract were his reasonings. Different strokes for different folks. Do what's best for YOUR career and let others worry theirs.
ACY just lost a captain to Delta a couple of days ago, and I know another captain has an interview at Southwest soon. Almost ever FO I fly with has their apps out. I like it here, but I've been thinking of getting my apps out too. I don't see us getting a contract any time soon.

Why would you even wait? Ask yourself, if I was offered a job with Delta, Fedex, UPS or any other carrier that cares about its pilots today would I turn it down? Of course not!! You can't accept the position if you do not apply. Seniority is everything. Until our negotiators secure us a industry average/leading contract we all need to have our apps out, even the new guys that say that this is better than my regional.

I agree. But let's be honest, no carrier actually cares about its pilots. Even at FedEx where the big money is paid they are actively working on ways to eliminate pilots completely

Do you think UPS really cares about pilots? They think they are glorified truck drivers, they even tried to make their truck drivers pilots at one time. Don't equate pay and benefits with caring. UPS and FEDEX will be the first guys to let UAVs move packages via large freighters. My farther flew for UPS for 23yr, he always told me "I can put up with a lot of BS because of the pay, that doesn't mean I like the BS though."

Hint: Local Representation. As usual, our officers of 77 still haven't held the required LEC meeting per the C&BL's, due months ago. They are the official forums of discussion and interaction between the membership and officers. They can't even manage to hold required meetings (again). It's simply time for DFW pilots to elect their own local reps and conduct our own LOCAL business. All LAS based 77 officers might think that's not important. We beg to disagree.
By the way...PUB events are not meetings where resolutions and official business can be conducted.
Remember the IAH unity event when JA introduced himself as the "Las Vegas FO rep"? We all immediately stared at him and RP caught it a couple of seconds later, jumped up and said "and DFW too."
Want another reason?

Interestingly enough, NO SPA council had the required meetings last year. Each council had two meetings. Yeah, I checked with ALPA National.

Why don't you guys stop disrupting and start unifying. We should have one focus only, securing a new deal. Management loves it when we fight amongst ourselves.
