Would definitely be a bad idea to park airplanes while other airlines are ramping up post Covid and others expanding to take advantage of new markets. Don't think Apollo or SCA management would like to see the value of their stocks plummet while the rest of the industry prospers. Time to keep the pressure on

This raises more questions. I spoke with someone, not one of those you mention, within the last month and the 750 hour rule was still referenced. To further complicate matters, the change is supposed to "not discriminate" according to the contract. If you don't make an announcement there could be guys who want the upgrade but are waiting to put in for it because on the one hand you are told, and we were told "you are responsible for making sure you have the times" and on the other hand, you need 750 hours, and on the 3rd hand (?) you can upgrade with 500 hours.

Even if all these questions get cleared up, there are still going to be a lot of people who don't fulfill both of the FAA requirements of 3,000TT and 1,000 121 operations.

Apparently there were only two people who had the 500hrs and met the additional requirements. Not sure what was or was not announced.

after searching longer than i'd like to admit, cuz i knew i saw it somewhere too, the FOM still states 750 FO time at sca. but someone wrote on fb (so you know it's legit) june 19th it was lowered to 500.

most jr CA hired Dec 2019, 108 (of 207) FOs bypassing.

Either way I will be commuting from the west coast. The commute at SKW would be a 30 minute flight, usually on company metal, served at least 15 times a day each direction. Sun Country would be a 3 hour hop - sometimes on company metal.

Career wise I wouldn't mind looking more into SCX as the growth is promising and having your paycheck say the name as written on the airplane is a big deal. All of the pilots I have met seem (reasonably) happy. Kind of a goofy situation to be comparing a regional to a 737 carrier, but in this particular instance the thought of commuting to what sounds like really bad reserve may not be worth it.

So really, if I'm going to be commuting to reserve - how bad are we talking? Sounds like at least a year of only ten days off with minimal time off in between. What kind of changes are being worked on, if any?

Appreciate any insight.
Commuting to reserve here is brutal. You’d be far better off at Skywest and try to get on with a better major from there.

At least the paycheck matches the name on the side of the airplane. A lot of people are jaded because it isn’t a sexy airline like Delta or United but alot of the senior group never had to experience the Regional airline base shuffle every couple of years or so. Or the guessing game on whether or not your mothership carrier was going to renew your FFD contract or not

You might be surprised at how many senior guys have had the Regional airline experience and or the shuffle. We are old, but not that old. ;-)

This portion is incorrect. Common wisdom is 2500TT (though it is not listed as such). The rest can be found in 121.436 if anyone is interested.

FWIW, these numbers are from the projected award. The truth, not the rumor, should be out in about a week, and these numbers might be revised. As is being discussed, some of the "bypassing" might be simply not having enough hours.
