How many HW will become active yet not able to vote by the end of this after this extension?
All HW jump seaters and First officers since this opened I’ve run into would be solid No if they had a say. I absolutely have bias as a No voter wanting them in. But number will be at least 500.

Why do furloughed pilots not get to vote? One of the reasons is that they will vote for any POS contract that will get them back on property quickest. Using the same logic... "Pilots will vote for what's best for their pocketbook"... the guys going out the door due to retirement will do the same. Most are senioir, will not be on reserve, and want their paltry 14.5 %. The long game be damned.
I find your confidence about mil, and random 91/135 who need time to be groomed not only insulting but laughable. You act like they are incapable of logical thought when presented with "facts" like a pro/con paper.
BTW I would put the "close to retirement guys" at 90% or > to approve the TA. I would put the naïve nubes at 50-50. Instructors???? prolly the majority will be for the TA. They can say what they want, and can even show their vote..... only to change it later.....but when the voting booth curtain has been drawn... the vast majority of pilots will vote what they think is best for them(and family). It's just human nature.
It's not like the half wingers are 8 years old and incapable of critical thinking and need you and TodKinds to spoon feed them

New hires from outside the airline industry may have just spent four months in training, with liberal supplies of complementary koolaid. I'm sticking to my guns that they need some time to build some SA. Not be spoon-fed by anyone, but learn a few things on their own. And interact with a variety of real line pilots.
In that vein, I'd agree with letting former ALPA members vote immediately.

I guess you could also rule that folks with less than one year to retirement can't vote either. But good luck with that

Letting prior-ALPA vote is a good idea, but it would also be a can of worms. What about ex-Teamsters? SkyWest? Etc. Would also probably rub mil people the wrong way.
That being said, I do hope they poll a fair amount of new guys.

I don’t mean new hires. I specifically meant those who did their year prior to vote starting. So almost 4 months of newly formed full members not getting a say. I know of multi year pilots coming back off leave that can’t even vote. And now we extended the vote. I’m personally fine with HW waiting.

That’s one of the many reasons why I pick up the tab for any half-winger that I fly with. It allows them to get to know their new aircraft, the way we approach every facet of the job at UA without the pressures of worrying about which dinner or drink to order with dinner (coffee at the airport) on first year pay.
It also allows time for mentoring and points of view from the old guy on how we got where we are today.
It’s only 12 months - you will be ok and I will buy you the beer 🍺 for you to cry about it in 😂
