Delta will run through the list of legal reserves available for a trip and you can bypass until the list comes back to you. It lets the guys who want to work get a trip.

I have been impressed by the level of professionalism from scheduling that I have recieved as a newhire. At previous companies where waiting on hold for 45 min to be denied a pickup that helped the operation was disheartening. Here they pick up right away and it seems like they will work with you within the bounds of the contract.

I'm not sure that leveling the playing field really would improve quality of life for all. I'm not sure the negotiators (union and company) can make major improvements to reserve with only minor changes.
but I'll certainly watch and see what everyone comes up with next time around. Like I wrote earlier, big improvements to reserve will let me bid wb capt a couple yrs sooner. Otherwise, I'll sit tight and hold my sched until I can hold a sched on the wb. But I won't bid up too early then ask everyone else to level the playing field so i don't have to sit in a crashpad. that would be the " me me me" attitude that we're trying to avoid as a group am i wrong ?
For the most part we agree. Today, reserve is a choice. But times will change. Reserve won't be a choice for many. This is why we need to make improvements when we can.

Priority 1: field standby changes.
Priority 2:Fix random and unwarranted LC-SC conversions and make process transparent.
Priority 3:Ability to Bid SC and LC lines.

1. Specifically, what changes would you like to see to field standby? Also, is field standby even being used by any fleet?

2. I suspect that any fix will be worse than the problem.
The company must notify a long call 13 hrs prior to a trip. The company can notify a short call 10 hours prior to a trip.
Like it or not, the company has increased flexibility by selectively converting LCs to SC.

3. Now that one's paid one hour for each SC after the second SC, having pure SC lines would cost someone who wants SC to lose money. Some reserves want to be assigned SC as much as possible because of the extra hour pay.

Fill out your contract surveys, we shouldn't be having this discussion in public. The MEC and NC need to know your wants and desires... not forum lurkers.

Fair enough. Was deliberately very basic in stating these personal views. Have filled out every survey and talked to my reps.

fair enough
then let's not have guys turning every forum post about 350s, bases, ceo statements, aircraft orders, training dates, etc, into grumbles about the reserve system
if the 3% unhappy with reserve want to grumble, do it to your reps. not in this forum

Last week there was a meeting at TK, I believe it was a town hall type. I've been hesitant to post this, since I believe that if it was actually communicated at the meeting, it would already have been posted by someone else.

So, this still falls into the rumor category, but supposedly the A350's are deferred or will be until at least 2020.

We shall see, but no surprise if true.
