Can someone explain the DCA in the drop? I thought IAD was the domicile, and that’s one of the locations that we are interested in being based as quickly as we can get there. We want to get as far to the west as SC will allow and still meet the 2.5 callout for IAD. So how does DCA work? When based out of IAD, do you also fly out of DCA? Do you get paid differently? What are the reserve requirements for that? Thanks
DCA is the name of the domicile for all Washington categories. This is what you will see on the bids…even for the 777 and 787 which obviously don’t fly into National Airport. IAD is the primary airport with DCA and BWI being co-terminal airports. Certain fleets (namely Airbus and 737) must cover all three.

Thanks all for the great info on the thread. What's the flying look like out of EWR on the 73 and 75? I've heard Europe trips on the 75, anything international or intl overnights on the 737?

I’m a very junior 737 guy at EWR. I really like the diversity of flying there. I’m currently on an empty line and still get to build an awesome schedule. Lots of international to Caribbean, South/Central America, Mexico and yes quite a few overnights. Some transcon available, I like those personally because they are pretty commutable. The airport is busy but it’s small enough to be able to learn quickly. I did my IOE out of IAH and it was asses and elbows for me pretty much the whole time we were on the ground, my LCA couldn’t stop laughing and smiling at the shi* show I put on for him…

Happy to answer anything specific if you have questions.

No judgment here, I'm sure I'd be putting on a full Netflix comedy special for my LCA if I where in your shoes.

I appreciate the response!

Anyone know for 737 what the plan is after indoc? I heard it’s two weeks cbts at home.

Soon to be FNG. I'll be happy with whatever I get! That said, if I get to choose, and my choices are SFO or EWR, and I'm commuting from the middle of the country (OMA), which direction is better to go?
Like many, I'll probably look to progress to something closer to home (aka more desirable) as seniority allows, but in the mean time, any insight or thoughts on directional commuting? Cheers, and thanks!

Either way that will be a 2-leg commute to SFO or EWR. LAX would be the best option for commuting which is relatively the same seniority as the two, since it has direct service on multiple carriers.

Doubtful - unless they are already backed up or something. They are cranking people through as fast as they can. Most with only a couple of days off for CBTs after indoc

You get “doubletown pay” ($136.05 ) for any trip out of BWI. Nothing for DCA.
But it helps offset the hotel and dinner the night before your trip, as most BWI trips start EARLY!
