Thanks for all the help! I’m starting BI soon and trying to gain a reasonable expectation on where I’ll fall bidding initially and then follow on options to switch things up as desired after.
I was hired thinking I’d be top 10-20 in my class of 48. But back then we had almost half the class with XJT pilots with 20+ years there...(I’m guessing a lot of those were some that had to finish their degree to finally get placed in a UAL newhire class). Needless to say, I was smack dab in the middle of a class the ranged from 56 - 24.
Don’t worry about something you can’t control...just enjoy the first two nights on us. The rest you’ll have to pay for (during BI at least)

For those that have interviewed recently and now received a class date; how long before being notified you were successful? How long from interview to class date? Thx

Hey gang, what’s the likely-hood I can get a class here if I don’t have a degree but have the 1000 PIC from an AA regional? Was considering check airman which I know would increase my likelihood. How hardline is the degree these days with UAL

98% of successful candidates have a degree. You do the math.

So you are saying there is a chance…

What is being said is the odds are between Slim and None. . . And Slim just left town…

For those that have recently interviewed, how long before receiving an indication on being successful/unsuccessful?

Secondly, how long between interview and class date?

Thank you for the replies.

You should hear back Tuesday or Wednesday the week following your interview. Still waiting on a class date, but we were told to expect classes about 2 months out from the interview date.

Find the easiest, quickest four-year degree that you can get via online classes.

You may think it's too late but where do you want to be five years from now? A pilot without a degree, or one with one?

If you think that you can get the check airman position, and most importantly, THAT YOU WANT TO DO IT, then definitely apply for it. If your company is anything like XJT, they are very selective of their LCAs - its not just a "well I want it for my resume, so I guess that I'll do it" kind of thing. Took me years and 5 tries before finally getting the position.

While it can be stressful at times, it is also very rewarding.

And, yes, also get the degree.
