New Hire Classes and Drops

I would say it doesn’t really matter, since you’ll probably get to ORD NB before you even leave training. Lots of frequency to both, moreso to the NYC market, but less reliable. Plenty of crashpads around at both as well. Right now, you’re probably more likely to see IAH 737 FO right now simply due to the huge amount of vacancies in the last bid.

Not recommending that you take a 787 bid immediately, but taking a narrowbody assignment does leave you open to take a 756/777/787 whenever you desire as you wouldn't be frozen from bidding them. First year pay is the same regardless of aircraft assignment, so you would only see a financial benefit starting in year 2.

Prob on the next Vacancy bid. Those happen about every 4-6 weeks and lately the 787 FO slots have gone very junior with some going unfilled (thus the assignments to new hires).

You would likely complete training on your current aircraft and start training on the vacancy awarded aircraft 4 months or so later. That also means another checkride while on probation. I'm not saying it's tough or anything, just be aware there is some exposure there.
