Quote: You completely misunderstood the entire point of my question. I am on the younger side, so if SFO slots were going junior then I’d be concerned about being stuck there and unable to get out due to the seat lock. Thanks for the help though…
I did completely misunderstand, and apologize for oversnarking about it. My bad, sorry.

As ThumbsUo alluded, if you are indeed forced into an SFO 756, you are likely to be able to either base trade or get a vacancy while in training to EWR or DCA to at least improve the commute. Good luck, and if you choose to stay here, then welcome! If you go to AA, you may still burn your laptop though.

Haha no worries, thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it!

Has anyone received a HOGAN/Interview invite since PAPA last week?

Quote: Are these SFO slots going junior in classes? Since it’s also 756 and not 73, would it be difficult to get back to EWR? Seems like the 756 and WB slots in EWR are drying up.
The junior EWR 756 FO has a seniority number of 16582…The 8-ball is 16641. You should be able to get to EWR pretty quickly. The bigger concern is being on reserve for a long time. You’d likely be a line holder in EWR quicker on the guppy or Airbus.

Does living in base at UA provide many opportunities for additional earning? I've always been under the impression that it's a major consideration for living in base; aside from the significant increase in QOL. However, going through various threads, I'm having a hard time determining if there are many opportunities to pickup extra flying.

Really varies by fleet and seniority

But generally yes.

How long is it on average taking people to hear back after submitting an application? Thanks!

Quote: Thinking about applying to UA as I live in the Chicago area. Are ORD slots ever available in class? If not, how long can a new hire expect to wait to bid to ORD? I'm not particular over airframe as much as not commuting.
ORD has had unfilled assignments recently, but not as many as other locations. Any assignment that goes "unfilled" on a vacancy bid can be given out by the company to new hires for the next 90ish days. The company gets to decide which of the unfilled assignments are given out in which class, so they get to decide where their greatest need is and give out those assignments. So, they have been using that option to offer assignments in locations that are worse off than ORD.

What this means is that it is unlikely you will get ORD as your first assignment (though possible). However, we are having vacancy bids every 4-6 weeks, so before you are even done with initial training you will have an option to bid for an ORD slot. That bidding option comes with restrictions based on whatever your initial assignment is. You will be "frozen" on the aircraft associated to your initial assignment except if you are bidding to a hiring paying seat. So, if you get a 737 someplace besides ORD, you would be able to bid for 737 in ORD, as well as 756 and 787 at ORD on any vacancy bid that opens. You cannot bid from the 737 to the A320 while on your new hire freeze, as they are paid the same. If you get a 756 as an initial assignment, you would be able to bid for 756 in ORD or 787. If you get a 787, you would only be able to bid for 787 in ORD. If you get the 777 (that would be the worst even though the plane is awesome) you would be frozen on the 777 and we don't have a 777 base in ORD anymore, so your first opportunity to get to ORD would be by bidding to Captain in ORD after you are off probation. We have a rule that you can't take a Captain bid until off probation.
