Less options this week over previous weeks…. Do those with longer term knowledge consider it a trend or blip? Scheduled to start class in June and looking for a pattern if there is one.

Thanks

It's hard to say. Looking at the vacancy snapshot (the final award should post sometime this evening, I'd guess), there are a lot of (>20) unfilled FO vacancies on:

In descending order:

-IAH 737
-EWR 737
-SFO 756
-SFO 320
-EWR 320

Note that the IAH 737 has about as many unfilled vacancies as the rest of the above combined, and the two 737 domiciles make up roughly 70% of the total vacancies.

The next group of unfilled vacancies (>10<20), in descending order:

-IAH 320
-DEN 320
-EWR 756

Going forward, I'd expect the majority of future vacancies to be in the top grouping, and predominantly 737 IAH. It's probable there will be a smattering of the rest listed in the top grouping on most bids, and perhaps occasionally a stray couple from the bottom grouping. There are less than 10 widebody FO vacancies unfilled at this point, and they're all SFO 787.

That is usually the case for the classes coming in as you get closer to a vacancy bid…

Next weeks class will see options from unfilled vacancies from the current bid that closed today…

will that last until the 6/6 class? Not sure when the next vacancy bid goes out.

We just had close and they seem to happen every 4 to 6 weeks. Next couple classes I am sure will have some good options then they will start to dwindle. The pro of having class the week prior or week of a vacancy bid that you can get bid to a base/equipment of desire rather quickly with some limitations with seat locks….

Are IAD or ORD WB slots ever offered to new hires?

Ever, never are absolute, so you can't really say no, but it wouldn't be normal. The seniority dynamics much favor it happening at DCA vs ORD, though. DCA has two WB fleets vs 1 at ORD and is generally a more junior domicile. That being said, it will absolutely not happen in the next few months as there were no unfilled vacancies on the bid that just closed for WB fleets at either domicile. New Hire offerings are composed of what is unfilled on the vacancies.

Expanding on the above ... new hire bid on slots hat old hires didn't take. So it just depends. The company can fudge things a bit (ie offer 100 IAH 737 FO positions on a bid). There are trends (EWR and SFO 737/320 rarely fill) but ultimately it just depends how each bid goes down. This time - half the open slots are IAH 737.

Thanks for the responses. I know it's constantly changing but would a base transfer to ORD or IAD be reasonable within the first year out of training?
