I don't know, is it? Looks like "I can't afford to live in San Fran or LA but really want to live there" or "Whahhhh, I got bumped non revving" are the threads of the day now. So maybe those are the new tool of the day threads??

And this right here is why I refuse to ever sit in a jump seat (or non rev) again and I buy tickets when I want/need to go somewhere. The politics and BS that go on with the gate agents, FA's, the other pilots listed for it and the CA for a jump seat isn't worth a free seat anywhere. I always get on in the seat I choose in the clothes I want to wear and my stress is minimal. If that means living in base so I don't have to commute (a base I can afford) then so be it.

I think any future stipends are a bad idea; it’s really just redistribution of wealth which most of our profession would cringe at. Then again, I’m more libertarian and would support longevity pay over equipment banding, but that’s a whole different deal.
Zero people are complaining about getting bumped non-rev. Seniority rules. The complaints are regarding the unpredictability of trying to JS to/from work induced by lack of common courtesy by more senior commuters who don’t list in advance for whatever reason and know they’ll still get on. That’s it. Seniority still rules, commuter policy is still great. Junior peeps *should* have to take more time planning their commute than senior ones. It does follow though that those most able to buy a ticket are the least likely to have to do so.
I would support putting half-wingers at the top of the SJ1 priority for their first year since they 1) are least likely to have had a choice in where they work, 2) have the worst schedules, 3) can financially least afford to drop a trip, and 4) are most at risk if they end up out of position. We’re all “free beer and welcome”, this would actually show some support until off probation.

SNAPs?
Sensitive New Age Pilots
Heard that at TK not too long ago.
(To be fair, I think that’s at least a ten year old term from the Air Force)

But all space A, with few exceptions. Spring Break KOA was my latest. Piece of cake.

Amen, I’ve commuted for over 20 years and taken wife family etc on several vacations in clouding first class to Europe on stby. I’ve also bought them spring break tickets and jump seated myself which saved about $400 each time. Great benefit

Lucky you. You must play the non rev chess game well. More power to you. Some people are good at it.

The Captain has no more or less control of the seat than a Delta captain does. It's still the Delta Captain's jumpseat. It's just with the United one the expectation on who he is probably going to take is different. It's pretty weak to pretend that changing the priority system changes Captain's authority.
It's fine if you don't like it, but be honest about the differences.
I'm guessing you aren't a Delta pilot, since your story doesn't make sense coming from one. If you were then you wouldn't be trying to list with the agent to find out it was booked in the first place. Since it sounds like UAL pilots can still list in advance (just be bumped) the plight of an offline pilot finding out someone is listed already doesn't change. The difference is that the online pilot who listed can't be bumped on a Delta flight.
