New Uniforms Announced
#201
There’s the crux.
I think you’ll find the overwhelming voice of the pilots is a resounding yes. The proposed new uniform is unacceptable.
As an organization, we have a process to express our displeasure. Show up at an LEC meeting and when the call for new business is made, submit a resolution to recall the committee and have the MEC chair clearly state that the new uniforms failed to win the hearts and minds of the pilots.
The uniform committee and MEC got this horribly wrong. And yes, I understand the embarrassment the MEC will have during contract negotiations when they are forced to admit how out of touch they are, and in reality didn’t represent the membership.

As I mentioned before, I'm not in love with the new uniform.....especially the tie. I also know the tie was not something the committee had influence on. Minus the tie, I don't know what grounds you can argue that it is unacceptable. You may not like it, but it's certainly not unacceptable from my perspective.

I agree PDRs are data points, nothing more. Understand that PDRs will not direct union business although they can help detect the scope contractual violation/non compliance.
Resolutions are THE ONLY method of completing representational action for new business and or direction. Read the MEC meeting compilation of action and see if there’s any ongoing initiative that didn’t begin as a resolution. In fact I’d challenge you to provide examples of policy or direction that didn’t start as resolutions. On this point, you’re simply wrong.
The grievance process has nothing to do with new uniforms unless the company fails to pay for cleaning. Certainly you’re not suggesting a grievance over the new colors, cut, or fabric.

I wrote a lot more, but the internet connection decided I had done too much.
In the end you need to cool you jets a bit.
BTW I would suggest you volunteer for an MEC committee and see how the process actually works in real time.

Talk to your REP.....CHECK!
Voice your opinion on "Flying together" .......CHECK!
Hopefully we can come up with something better than Purple Passion.....I guess maybe we are buying FEDEX?

Sadly you seem to have difficulties with both reading and interpreting what was written.

Cool my jets? Eat a big one, I have a voice on this forum and in the union hall.
Did ya ever think maybe I have served the pilot group and have a pretty firm understanding of the MEC policy manual, ALPA bylaws, and past practice.
Prove me wrong and post a reference to the directive nature of a PDR.

I don’t see accent stripes on the collars.
While I have not had the chance to wear the uniform on a trip yet, just trying it on, it is better quality than our current uniforms. Our goal during the testing is to try out the comfort and durability of the uniform, not critique the colors.

The “blue” of the uniform actually didn’t look too bad. Not my first choice but okay.
The tie.......makes the color of the uniform not matter. The combination of both does NOT look good.
Again, professional, conservative, understated.
Stripe width, I could care less.
Material used seemed really thin/light with some stretch to it. I actually think the Fabric is okay just not sure about wrinkles and durability in day to day Ops.
Hope one of the testers is on here to give a post trip report on how it went.
They want modern, get rid of the wheel cover.
And a leather jacket should be retained as an option IMO.
