New Uniforms Announced

You win, you are right, the majority is run by the few, LEC, MEC, & Company really only care about the few who go to the local meetings. Their resolution after resolution is THE holy grail.
Now start your recall and see where it goes.
I’ve done my part.
Now I remember why I hated Council meetings.

Was your part filing a PDR? Truly the greatest generation.

You think the most effective way to "fix" this uniform issue is to go and file some resolution at the local council meeting showing your displeasure with and desire to recall your uniform committee reps.
My position, as well as that repeated by the LEC, MEC and Co., is the mass filing PDRs with our displeasure over the uniform as presented. This process is not to change the contract, recall committee members or any other hospitality suite/smoke filled room deals that may go on at the meetings. It is, however, the most effective way for the rank and file to let them know our displeasure with something.
The PDR system has been shown repeatedly its effectiveness in all that I have previously mentioned and posted from both opinion and official sources.
You reject that and keep singing your song about going to the meetings, presenting some resolution with a dozen pilots there, waiting for the process to make it to the MEC meeting where it is promptly shot down or tabled until the next meeting.
File your PDR, call and or text your Rep and complain more on social media. Yes that has been proven to be very if not most effective.
Even our ALPA National President is seeking better communication methods and recognizing the power of the internet and its communication power.
Now if you don't believe me consider "the wall," where and how that is being effectively debated.
Move into the present day wax; use the tools.

First.
Somehow you keep coming to conclusion that I'm suggesting that PDRs don't have an effective place in the our union. I'm not proposing that at all, they're an effective tool for providing feedback. But, they are NOT directive in any way shape or form according to our policy manual.
I've agreed with you, and still do, that PDRs are great for recognizing trends and variances in CBA compliance by the company. That said, they don't create direction to the MEC.
Under current policy, the problem I have with PDRs is that there is ZERO direction that membership can provide using the medium. Sure, pilots can provide feedback, but that's all it is. Feedback is markedly different that providing direction to elected representatives. The only medium we have to provide direction (and keep with our own policy) is a resolution.
Second.
ALPA business is littered with volunteers who have been fired. it sucks, but it happens. And yes, people get their feeling hurts, I mean how can you fire a passionate volunteer!? (Insert examples of Legislative Affairs, or SPC here).
If a committee is unable to represent the best interests of the pilots, or their work is counter to the best interests of the pilots, they get let go. A normal cycle is that they just don't get reelected, but there is history of firing members or entire committees.
So back to the proposed new uniform, I hope that we can agree that it fails to meet the needs of the pilot group. I believe what we're disagreeing over though is process. My read of the MEC policy manual still favors the resolution process no matter how cumbersome, no?

Agreed, but using PDRs, the MEC doesn't "owe" the pilots anything. You'll get a "thanks for your feedback" if you're lucky.

No need for me to write one. I have no desire to recall anyone. Especially for frivolous reasons. I've written and floored many resolutions in the past. If you feel that your argument is so undeniable then it should be pretty easy to write.
You on the other hand want to recall committee members and receive an apology from our MC. So again, where is your resolution?
Your sample resolution will be the most telling item in determining if you have any idea on what it takes to understand and accomplish the process and understand the seriousness of a recall. Prove it. And prove that your argument is not frivolous.
I don't recall you mentioning attending meeting and flooring resolutions in the past. If you did then I missed it. I'm glad you want to get involved. It's unfortunate that a proposed uniform that hasn't completed the process yet had to be the catalyst.
