Maybe just maybe those who have been steamrolled in the past feel the need to voice their opinion. I might not always agree with their opinion but open disagreement and discussion makes this group stronger. To suggest they "retire already" speaks to your mentality.

I wouldn’t be caught in any plum purple color...ever. Such is life and some of us care if we look like a joke at work in front of thousands of people a day.

I care to look like a professional. Pilots in general are conservative in dress and oppose change. Military flights suits for example. Military Uniforms.
United Airlines uniforms for the last 80 years.
THAT is why so many are opposed to this change. Our entire careers are spent looking for and feeling out things that don’t look right and fixing them. TEM.

Maybe you need to dig a little deeper and be more professional.
Spot on sir!

Yeah Varney founded in 1926, United in 1931.

Why don’t you google uniforms over that time and you won’t find any outlandish colors like what’s going on right now. A history of what’s been established as being “professional”.

While they're all black and white, I do suspect the possibility of a touch of fuchsia in there.

I just finished a trip and all three of us thought it looked OK, basically the old uniform but in silver. None of us have seen it in person. It’s not a wow, but certainly not worth the outcry being posted here. Just three guys opinions out of 12,000+.

I’ve seen it in person 3 times now via the uniform testers. I still don’t get it, and pretty sure I never will. I’ve been trying to keep an open mind, but I can’t help but agree with what was said above. Give me something professional that I won’t be embarrassed wearing in front of colleagues and the general public. Small changes of the color to the current design shouldn’t be a huge ask. Pilots don’t need to be making fashion statements for the airline.

Ive seen it in person.....still a giant "YUCK" and a major fail for both the Uniform committee and the designer (that may be harsh but you signed for the job you get to take the heat)

Also with talking to many pilots they feel ALPA is out of touch with the line pilots ---the survey obviously wasn't taken into consideration by the company what so ever--this is when ALPA needs to step in and make our voices heard (...the bigger fish to fry comment--well this is one fish out of many and "we" the line pilots have spoken) if one reads the comments on Flying together it is very obvious that a LARGE and I mean 95% to more do not like the design, color, and choice this uniform brings to the table.

When we read comments about "Its not so bad". "when you see it in person you will like it". or "Its not the final colors--its just a "fit" test". many start to raise the BS flag!

I am reminded of a NWA Capt'n I knew pretty well......you know the "Cobra Airlines boys" who STRUCK more times than any other pilot group, were paid very well and flew a lot of Widebody airplanes...."You idiots at United and the no hat thing.....go ahead and don't wear your hat--stop wearing a uniform--look like everyone else and be prepared to be paid like crap---and treated like crap! Maybe he was right?

Can't believe this concept is so hard....for some.

It’s not just pilots.

Flight attendants in particular are about 95% against, both on the company comment section, and those I have flown with.

I have only talked to a few station personnel, but they too, are dismayed.

Here’s my question: was there widespread displeasure when we merged, and FAs got the blue dress, and we got the Navy blue with wide stripes?

The only complaint I remember was the “ipad antenna” on the hat, which was eventually fixed.

The other complaints were wishing it looked more like their legacy uniform...but nobody said “my God, that color is hideous.”
