Also, the next FO town hall is Thur the 9th. That could indicate it will be Friday...so they can hide behind a CCS message for the weekend.
I feel like I heard the 8th as the day they had planned to release the details. That might have been mentioned at the ORD town hall that supposedly broke the news of waiting until after the 4th. I however wouldn’t be surprised if they hid behind the CCS message drop on a Friday as well.

BQ’s message in the FOU dated July 1 mentions the likelihood of issuing WARN notices this month for “furloughs that are effective October 1”.

The fact that they weren’t issued by July 3 bodes well for pilots hired prior to Jan ‘16, since furloughs deeper than that require 90 day notice per the UPA.

I don't know if any airline can escape a trip through bankruptcy court after shrinking 30%. A lot of your fixed costs are still there, and you can't get out of them without the help of a judge. That is why any Delta Bravo management puke spewing "shrink to profitability is a complete idiot.

Unless air travel returns quickly, any airline trying to go it without "safe harbor" is just kicking the can down the road, and will end up so indebted they will never make money, or pay their obligations.

The only hope is further bailouts. I don't think the country has any more stomach for that.

Possibly a good observation and I like the optimistic view. My only counter is if there is any reason the company couldn’t just say “90 day notice for furloughs to begin October 10th”? October 1st is the soonest, but is there anything stopping the company from just pushing the affective date back a few days?

No there isn’t and I didn’t mean to imply that those of us hired prior are permanently safe from furlough, just that we might escape the first round of culling. Every day that passes while meaningfully employed is more money that can be stashed in the emergency fund, more time to possibly see signs of life return to our industry, and more time for the scientists to find a vaccine.

It also affords me another opportunity to work on my Syrio Forel impression:

”What do we say to the God of Furlough?”

”Not today.”

Idk how your system works. Would the last paycheck covered by CARES be received Oct 1 or Oct 15th? If it’s the latter, might that have something to do with the timing of the 90d window? Wouldn’t put it past any airline to try and have folks work through the monthly carryover period before furloughing.

Since there have been 2,321 pilots hired after that Jan ‘16 cutoff date in the UPA, I’ll add a #metoo to that estimate.
