A couple of premium pay 787 trips could possibly offset a job or two of a Gate Agent, a new hire FA, or a Line job. You see I think about other people and not just myself. So it could possibly be to the cost of another. Just not another pilot. It's not like we aren't well paid already.
.
Wow. Get a clue. There isn’t one gate agent, new hire FA, or ramper that will shed a single tear nor stop picking up overtime because pilots are furloughed. I’ll never understand this bleeding heart “logic”.

Thanks for educating me on the 787 process especially with the cargo flights - Good Stuff. I can definitely see the bigger picture with the premium pay and the Reserve System now. Discussion Board objective accomplished!

You're right - Being here less than five years, I don't have the "Us against Management" mentality. As far being naive, I just want as many people as possible to come out of this thing ok on the other side!

Everything we have seen so far has been highly orchestrated. Every statement, emotion, figure omitted, figure presented has it's purpose. It's playing out just like it did 18 years ago.
If you want as many to come out of this ok then there are three things you can do. Call your reps and get factual information. Based upon that information, give them your opinions. Then, and most importantly, let you union speak for you. True unionism will benefit the "many people" you describe.

I think you need to watch the link below and reconsider your position. In fact for those who don't realize what we're up against should watch this. Please pay close attention to the 16:45 mark. It cannot be overstated enough.

Ive been on the plane for 5+ years-mostly on reserve. I have never flown so much even with the majority of us on reserve! They build numerous cargo flights a day or two out every single day. Just because you aren’t flying much, don’t assume it is that way with us.

What you fail to state on those 7+ day trips......Often times First and/or Final leg(s)/days are DH to start/end. There are SEVERAL trips that are 2 days (sometimes 3 days with two days DH home to West Coast base) with DH on beginning and ending to make the 7 day a five day trip. The reserves are waiving days on these trip thus most of the time able to break guarantee.

Truth. The essence of working under the bureaucracy of any large, legacy corporation. On the other hand, it does allow efficient division of workload and management of a global scale operation. But it doesn’t turn on a time, foster extra effort, or make everyone happy as it is, at it’s heart, driven completely by competition. The nature of the beast. Saving your post for future reference.
