Some of us bid NB CA only after we could hold a line. I’d much rather be bumped to WB FO lineholder than sit reserve as a CA.
Follow our current contract. FPTLD.

I’m a latecomer to the thread and haven’t read all the way through yet...so forgive me if you changed your tone somewhere along the line. But based on what I’ve read thus far, I’m really, REALLY getting tired of hearing you whine like a little girl.
While you were out there playing bunkie on your plush global trip, other people decided to take a bid, go to TK for a month, and then slog it out as NB captains. They bid captain, you did not. You COULD HAVE, but you chose not to.
So now, it looks like we could have a situation where there WERE displacements because those displacements (for some) could be CANCELLED. That means a lot of those people will go back their NB captain seat....just as if this whole crapshow had never happened. So you will STILL be playing bunkie on your plush global trip and they will STILL be slogging it out as NB captain. He can hold that seat. Because there is NO LONGER a displacement. And their hourly rate will remain the same. Yours will too. Again, just as if nothing had happened.
As far as the wording in the TA, yada yada, who knows. It isn’t even a TA yet. But so far I’m just not seeing what your problem is.....

I don't understand your angst toward him and a few thousand other guys. Look at it this way, you get to slog it out as a NB Captain because a whole bunch of other guys chose not to.

Bingo. He chose not to upgrade as did thousands of other WB F/Os, myself included. Before I was bumped I was number 100 in base and I have over 20 years with United. A lot of the senior bunkies have 777 Captain seniority, though very very junior. WB FO is the best flying job I have ever had, and ever will hold given my age and what's going on right now.

I will wait for the details to get pushed out to the pilot group before I make my decision on reduced MPG....
I'm concerned this maybe the beginning of the end for ALPA. Not happy with splitting the pilot group by 1/3s. The bottom 1/3 keep their jobs but get insulted with 39MPG. Why not have have a standard 50MPG across the group? Does ALPA always have to cater to the top 1/3 of the group?

This reminds of participation trophies when little Johnny sucks. No concessions on pay and mpg. If we end up in BK court, so be it. We may end up there anyway and rather be starting there at 73 hours vs what’s being proposed (Supposedly) now.

And as Mako says, you chose to slog it out. I don’t begrudge you for making that choice. I am AGAINST someone being paid CA pay while they sit FO because they got bumped and can NO longer hold they seat. If that happens, they are throwing seniority out the window. Why is that so hard to understand? It’s a carve out for a yes vote. It shouldn’t matter if it saves furloughs or not, that’s not the point. It may be the outcome, but not the point I am trying to make.

Since we don't know what the AIP/TA really says, we're just speculating, but it is my understanding from reading what others have said on this thread that the middle third will have their displacements cancelled. That, to me, means that they will no longer be NB FOs, but will go back to holding their NB CA seats (on Reserve). So, I'm not sure where you're coming from when you say they'll get CA pay while sitting FO.

If their displacements get canx and they go back to their CA seat to sit reserve, I am ok with that. The other rumor is that they go to their displaced seat (FO), enjoy better seniority in their new seat while getting paid CA pay. That I don’t agree with. No matter the BES, you get paid the current seat you are in.
