One of those will change I’m sure - my money is on the UPA, but at what cost…

FOM can’t change, 1000 121 time is a FAR requirement as well

I’m aware of that. You’re kidding yourself if you don’t think there’s pressure on regulators to change the rule.

Not the company nor the regulators would risk such liability, that’s just my opinion tho.

Any change to the rule would likely be legislative. The current rule, due to Colgan, was part of the Airline Safety and Federal Aviation Administration Extension Act of 2010. I would expect any change would be incorporated into a new FAA reauthorization act (the current authorization is good to the end of FY2023, Sep 2023).
Congress could also decide to help alleviate any pilot shortage by increasing pilot retirement age; that would delay any need to reduce ATP requirements.

I’m curious as to what you meant regarding your post? At what cost to whom? It’s in our CBA and I don’t see an advantage for us to cave on that. So the question is what is the Company willing to pay for it? Everything in our UPA has a cost…

On the latest vacancy there was no unfilled captain slots. Furthermore, a bubble is about to burst where people hired a year ago will be over probation. We were hiring over 200 a month for a while, so doubtful unfilled will keep occurring

A recession would fix all of the company’s understaffing issues. 2023 is not looking pretty. Contract ASAP before we lose more leverage. Otherwise we are looking t late 2024 for a new CBA.

Good luck with that! Maybe an extension?

Well, do you want a contract, or a good contract?
