Quote: Your elected reps (status reps, not S/Ts) make up the Board of Directors. The BOD is who elects the National Officers. MEC chairs have no vote, or standing, as they're not part of the BOD.

It's the first person who gets a majority of the votes cast. If you have more than 2 candidates, it takes multiple rounds, because the lowest vote getter drops off.
sort of - typically carriers vote as a block and the haggling begins with the MEC chair - he’s very important and prob most important person in that block. It’s a roll call vote so UAL would deliver some 13k votes towards one person typically - I’ve never seen every rep vote on his own. There could be a split but it won’t be some willy nillly secret hidden vote

Time to RECALL the Negotiating Committee
TIME TO RECALL THE NEGOTIATING COMMITTEE

Now that the 4th of July holiday is passed and with the MEC set to convene a special meeting this week to put lipstick on a pig. It’s time to send a message to the MEC that the pilots are not happy with the status quo by recalling the Negotiating Committee.

It’s going to take more than one domicile to pull this off and will require you pilots from the large domiciles (EWR, DCA, ORD, IAH, SFO) to get involved and get this resolution or something very similar pushed through.

Whether the T/A fails of not, I believe the T/A is going to be refreshed by putting lipstick on it and re-sending it back to the pilots.

These leeches on the NC including Brad Hunnewell who is not officially a part of the NC are receiving 94.5 FPL off your union dues to bring us a T/A that did not follow MEC direction, and will lower the bar for all future pattern bargaining not just at UAL but all airlines. It’s time to send these leeches packing!!! Especially Hunnewell who should be barred from any further ALPA work that involves him getting FPL, time to send him back to the line to experience many of the work rules he negotiated for the rest of us!!

Btching is not enough, voting NO! is not enough. If you guys want to start taking your union back you are going to have to take a day out of your lives and come to your next council meeting. If you commute you need to take the time and come out to the meeting even if it means getting a hotel for the night.

Once the Reps who voted Yes get wind of an organized attempt to stack the meetings, rest assured they will call out their council toddies to make sure they come to the meetings to counter a recall resolution. You guys need to talk among those you know, organize and pack your next council meetings in force.

Those of you who have 5 or more years to go your careers are in your hands. Do nothing and nothing is going to change. If nothing changes expect more T/A’s like this going forth with ever more concessions until you become contractors for hire.

IT WILL BE IMPORTANT TO TACKLE ONLY ONE ISSUE AT A TIME. I’ve been told “But we need to recall Hamilton also!” Right now with the current 15 numb-nuts who voted yes if Hamilton is recalled he will just be replaced with another Insler Clone!

Attached is a copy of my resolution submitted to the C12 reps to recall the Negotiating Committee. Replace C12 with your own Council.

Resolution to Recall the Negotiating Committee

Whereas: The most recent T/A is a concessionary agreement giving further concessions from an already concessionary merger contract.

Whereas: The Negotiating Committee ignored most of MEC direction in the current T/A.

Whereas: Most members of the Negotiating Committee do not fly or have not flown regular line trips in years and are out of touch with the needs of the line pilot.

Therefore, be it resolved: The members of Council 12 have no faith in the current members of the Negotiating Committee to bring an industry leading contract and direct it’s council officers to recall the current members of the Negotiating Committee and replaced with pilots who regularly fly the line.

Be it further resolved: That Brad Hunnewell shall be prohibited from any further work on behalf of the Negotiating Committee, including any further Flight Pay Loss from the MEC.

1) I would recommend barring them from receiving any Flight Pay Loss for a minimum of five years.
2) This should wait until after the vote closes.

I'm gonna table a resolution for you to only make one new thread per week!

Quote: Not that I've seen any announcement in my inbox or online that he's running, but I’ll take Insler at the helm of ALPA vs. the likes of Barton any day.
Thats a very low bar. I’m sure there will be other choices.

You can’t write a resolution disenfranchising a Member or group of individual Members. It would have to bar all Members from exceeding a set amount of FPL.

But you can write an LOA that splits the group into three parts and benefits some more than others?

I realize that you didn't say that, just wondering where all the umbrage has been stored for the last few years.

So, the association can do whatever they want in the long run, seniority be dammed? Not the union world I spent the first 25 years of my career in. I think it was Dubo who said something about sometimes the union needs to protect pilots from themselves and never put divisive feces up for a vote.
