Actually 5 of the cattle car configured 777s show as "stored" not 13. 2 more show as "maintenance" but might be on their way to being stored. So, while not 13, still a problem. The 77K thrust Pratt and Whitney engines for the 777s are just not available in sufficient quantities and Pratt doesn't seem to care. The 90k motors can be derated and used on the older A model 777s, but the availability of those motors is not much better and they are being prioritized for the Intl configured 777s not the cattle car 777s. I am not sure what the solution to this is but until one is found, the Pratt powered portion of the 777 fleet is a problem.

I am not in Manpower Planning or Network Planning, but if you have 5 (or 7) less 777 aircraft available coupled with rumored delays in 787 deliveries due to seat issues, I would assume you would have a lower need for pilots. I doubt it would be massively less need given all the 737 and 321 deliveries, but could certainly reduce the numbers in the short term.

Decrease of 4% on first attempt and 17% of second attempt of self reporting candidates in the last 90 days compared to the rest of 2025. Really not that significant of an anomaly when taking account it’s not that accurate of polling.

agreed. Also the stall rate for the last 30 days is super high vs 60 and 90 so it could be TBNT or just poor follow through of reporting outcome. But the website assumes TBNT if not reported.

you think United is going to fail you on your interview because P&W can’t deliver 777 engines???

info on this site is clearly limited, and dubious. Very hard to believe average total time is 5600, with 90% having volunteering of any real substance. Only 256 total reports is a fraction of hiring over a single year

it’s called a sample size. That’s how probability and statistics work. You cannot collect data from the entirety of applicants. That is impractical.

Do you think those numbers are high, or low?

FWIW, I can tell you that my class average is significantly above 5,600 TT. There are absolutely some stragglers in the 2500-3000 range, but nowhere near the norm.
