The next time UAL has less then 400 pilots retire per year (as of today's seniority list) is 2057.
The problem is, those numbers are moving targets. Every new hire over the age of 45, for instance, is going to retire in the next 20 years, and will all add to those current numbers. Granted, we aren’t hiring a lot of 64 year olds so the numbers in the short term numbers won’t change much, but the retiree numbers 20-25 years out will almost certainly be higher than what is currently being shown, and the farther you look out the less accurate those numbers are actually going to be.

Numbers assume retirement at age 65. What about those of us retiring 10 yrs earlier?

Isn't supposed to change how many we get next year (21) but it just changes the timing of them, plus some of the 2025 deliveries are pushed to early next year as well.
Sounds to me like (with respect to hiring) if any impact is felt, it simply shifts things to the right a few months.

There is no way to predict this accurately.

I’d be more concerned with the drop
off in tourism that is happening then retirements. Add it with the administrations want of a 5 year social media history for tourists and it’s not looking great. Even if it doesn’t go into effect just putting it out there will continue to slow traffic into the US.

Even assuming that to be true, it doesn't fundamentally change the decade by decade retirement outlook. Pick a 10 year period, United is retiring over 4000 pilots for the next third of a century.

I just read the details of that proposal and it's astonishing. None of us would put up with that level of intrusion if we wanted to go visit a foreign country.

Moving target minimums with different implications for those applicants, new hires, and existing hires depending on if they are older or younger than the next hire so, yeah, for any given individual other than those very close to 65, they most certainly can be moving targets. Nobody older than you will affect your seniority at retirement, no matter when they are hired, but everybody already hired will - for the duration of their employment - affect your chances of getting hired, getting furloughed, etc. it depends on which population you are looking at.
