that’s complicated because seniority isn’t solely determined by date of hire for pre-merger pilots.

but more pertinently, all it will tell you is what has happened in the last X years to someone hired in 2025-X. Essentially zero predictive value

Please don't contemplate doing that. Any more consideration given to that, and I (and many others) will want to know the name of the AME on the bottom of your medical.

If you were in fact being sarcastic I feel better, but if that was not the case and you are just recently out of military, I feel responsible in telling you that going to Breeze from WN will DECREASE your chances in getting hired at United.

While Southwest is not a legacy, industry wide it is generally thought of as a Destination carrier (a place you would retire from)...it is only post pandemic that some people began viewing at as a stepping stone.

thanks everyone for the dose of sanity!
IMO the only thing that would come close to rivaling PIC time in importance is working for a rival 121 company. Kirby has been very adamant about competing with certain airlines and I’m sure poaching a SWA pilot would be worth some amount of application points, but nobody knows what that looks like.

You’re in a pretty good career spot already, I would just keep checking as many boxes as you can. If you can’t upgrade then look into any union or safety or training department work you can to help stand out from the crowd and the call will eventually come. Boeing and airbus will start bumping up delivery rates eventually and that will increase the hiring. Good luck!

Vacancy award just came out and here are the unfilled assignments. They can be used for the next 120 days, so gives a pretty good idea of what the next New Hire offerings will be. The company gets to decide which ones to offer to each class, so can't say 100% what you will see, but the offerings can only be things that have gone unfilled on a vacancy bid.

EWR 320 FO 1
EWR 737 FO 106
LAS 737 FO 15
LAX 737 FO 8
ORD 320 FO 60
SFO 320 FO 56
SFO 737 FO 117

Had some IAH and ORD 737 FO slots go unfilled on the vacancy bid in December, so there is still a chance some of those could be awarded in the next couple of classes, but the above list shows that the highest need is ORD and SFO on the 320 and EWR and SFO on the 737, so that is what I would expect to see in the next several classes.

Its a pre COVID hire that had to go to Guam to upgrade. In fact the two most junior captains in this vacancy are going to Guam. I wonder if by choice or are they hoping to base trade as soon as they can. That could be a tough trade.
Anyway, the pendulum has completely slammed the opposite direction in just a few short months. Large vacancies have dried up, roughly 6-8 years to upgrade here now. About the same to get into the WB, if not longer.

There were less than 20 737/320 CA positions awarded. One post-covid hire upgraded in GUM

The only Narrowbody Captain offered was 1 in GUM and the company was not offering backfills to any NB Captains that bid up to WB except in EWR and SFO, so not really any chance for much movement in the junior Captain world. The company said they are satisfied with the NB Captain staffing is good for the summer unless Boeing/Airbus over acheives on heir deliveries, so won't see a bunch of NB Captain bids for a couple of cycles.

Is it pretty safe to say that the next few classes will have a good mix of 737 and 320 slots available? Or is it just anybodys guess..

Pretty safe bet, but can't say 100%
