I'm concerned with UAL's target not because of what you say but because it is f-ing racist and will lead to breakdowns in safety. UAL will do everything in their power to push non-white pilots through the school house that they know are a safety risk until something bad happens.
Yes, Pinnacle 3701 was flown by two idiots who happened to be white. The Atlas crash was caused by an idiot that happened to be black, no race has a monopoly on jerks or bad pilots. Do you have evidence that these things have happened, are currently happening, or will happen? Non-white pilots will get pushed through but the white pilots will be held to the "real" standard? Why, because you say so? When you have as much movement in the industry as has occurred over the past couple of years its always a possibility that something bad could happen. Its just astonishing to me that instead of moaning about the overall reduction in operating experience of new comers in the industry you and your cohorts choose perseverate on the rather modest influx of women and minorities. As such, one can only conclude that you aren't really concerned for air safety at all. You just don't like the idea of more minorities on the flight deck. You're right...this industry is f-ing racist and always has been. Welcome to the jungle.

"Of course no one is suggesting that standards should be lowered" but that is exactly what will happen when companies do idiotic social experiments like this where safety is concerned. In your eyes we need to correct for all of the years of nepo hiring by hiring non white men even if some are like Mr. Aska? This is a bold strategy sir. Good luck.
Been a while since I’ve read the report. Did it include any mention of his race being a factor in not firing him?

So non-white pilots are unsafe? It’s ok if they push through the white ones?

Similarly, an aspiring pilot with great potential whose demographic helps him/her stand out among other similarly qualified individuals is not the same as being chosen solely on race or gender, try as some here might to make that claim.
Biden is a dumbass, at one point during a public officer use of force review he was telling anyone who would listen to “just shoot them in the knee”.

Legal force is justified or it isn’t. officers can and do get it wrong sometimes.

There is no such thing as sort of a little bit of lethal force but not too much.

If you shoot someone in the knee and lethal force wasn’t justified it’s attempted murder.

If lethal force was justified and you shoot them in the knee they will likely return fire kill you and then use crutches for the rest of their life and you’re dead.

It was comically terrible advice for the POTUS to blurt out on national TV.

He literally disrespected KBJ by going on and on about how he was so proud to pick a black women, that it threw shade all over her.

He could have just picked her and not given himself so much glory for choosing a POC, but he is too stupid.

Sure since you asked so nicely, I’ll try to type it out between hits from the paper bag.

Looking at her resume at the time of her nomination, it would be hard to claim KBJ was not equally qualified to the leading candidates- even among her political opposition I don’t remember anyone suggesting that. In fact, she had then been serving as a judge twice as long as ACB- who had presently already been on the SC for 2 years. IOW, though there were many potential options, there was not an objectively “better” candidate.

Was her demographic a consideration in her selection? Explicitly, yes- along with her entirely qualifying credentials & experience. To claim she was hired “solely based on race”- your words- is to take a highly qualified individual who is every bit as deserving of her position as any of her colleagues & boil her down to a demographic, which nicely illustrates the problem you claim doesn’t exist.

The parallel to the Aviate program is this: there is a huge difference between using demographic considerations to find a broader range of qualified candidates & lowering training/safety standards in order to make race/gender the sole- or primary qualifier. You may disagree with both, but they are not the same & conflating the two is intellectually disingenuous. Anyone who has evidence that the latter is taking place within Aviate will find me as upset as the angriest of you, but years into the dreaded “announcement”, I have yet to see anything other than the typical turnings of the outrage mill.

The bag is helping, BTW. I’d offer you a hit, but I’ve been breathing into it for a while now & it smells like lentils & Prius fumes.

I’ll jump with the message I received at Indoc when they were talking about diversity.

”look around the room; you see a lot of similar looking faces, and we are trying to change that.”

what I heard: “notice how you’re just a basic avg white dude like a lot of the rest of the people in here? Yeah you’re not quite what we’re looking for, we’d prefer different people. Not because of your personality or proficiency in flying, but solely because you born as a white male.”

"Not what they're looking for", yet there you sat, among similar-looking faces, with your first direct deposit on the way.

Looks like despite their efforts, it's not working, and you have nothing to worry about.
