United to reduce regional flying
#71
Again, you make unsubstantiated claims. Where is that magic size cutoff of mainline profitability? Prove your statement that the mainline cannot profitably fly smaller aircraft. Could United possibly be more profitable through outsourcing? Sure.
By your logic, United would outsource anything that could be flown more profitably by another carrier. No kidding. That's why we have scope language in our contract.

If you honestly think you're going to come on a mainline forum and try to persuade pilots here that we should relax scope restrictions, you're barking up the wrong tree. We all know exactly what scope relaxation over the past couple decades has done for mainline career progression. That mistake will never be made again by mainline pilots.
Come on dude, you look into stuff way too deep.

Methinks thou doth protest too much.
United pilots are doing just fine. We appreciate your concern though.

Anyway, you're debating here with people who have lived this issue and have the resulting scars. Thank you for running out of time and desire. Your Johnny Come Lately naivety is nothing new.

Sorry, you're wrong and arrogantly so. Management often outsources because it is MORE profitable, not because they cannot make a profit otherwise. Such greed made China what they are today.

This whole post you just made shows how insecure you are. Ironic you used term naivety by the way.

Hubs have limited gates and throughput so do you add a 50 Seater from a tiny town or another frequency from a much larger city from which you are taking passengers from ULCCs, LCCs and P2Ps using basic economy, no change fees and more amenities?
TD Cowen: Advantage DAL & UAL
Both airlines have been shrinking their regional outsourcing and growing the size and number of mainline aircraft.

The 550 argument is moot as it's a clapped out CRJ-700 no longer in production and being on life support by Mitsubishi for ?? It's a temporary stop gap that will only be around a few years.
If mainline aircraft can make money in the market when they're gone they will be there.
