that hill they will die on is leather jackets and they don’t care how senior or self important you are.
the company HATES the leather jackets and wants them gone. Good luck proving your point.

Thanks for quoting the contract. The company still decides the uniform. While we have input through the uniform committee, it’s pretty limited. Just talk to someone on the committee. Since very few people care about the leather jacket relative to the 18k pilots, it wasn’t worth any capital.

I don’t think you understand how this works. We still wear hats because the company wants hats. Most people hate hats. The company hates leather jackets. Most pilots don’t care about leather jackets. We don’t have leather jackets. Back to turning the wrench and collecting checks.

They really don’t though that’s the thing. I accept YOU do and you are most welcome to look as sharp as you wish. When someone looks extremely sharp however, I start wondering if they have spent too much time in front of the mirror and NOT enough time in front of their EFB. I’ve said this before: there is a sizable chunk of the East Asian and Western European public that does place a lot of emphasis airline crew uniform and appearance standards, however this is still mostly focused on inflight. This makes sense right they spend far more time visible and interacting with the passengers than we do…..it’s mostly female, and while subjective are generally thought to be more attractive and younger. Think about it, you can easily pick out a Singapore Airlines Flight Attendant by their sarong, or the Cathay Red skirts…..but what color are their pilots blazers?………..you aren’t really sure are you…….thats kind of my point.
