Thanks. Here's my next question: Does UA have any specific rule regarding separation from your previous employer? I'm bidding for the voluntary furlough at Spirit, which would take effect Nov 1. If it was permissible, I would clear everything from my line for October and allow the furlough to take effect, as it comes with a severance payout, and then resign Nov 2. Is something like that permitted?

people did stuff like this in the mid 2000s….they were using sick bank so slightly different but it lead to many people being fired. If you need the money to get through first year pay at UAL just defer the class date to November (although that could be as many 200 seniority numbers. Probably something to ask at spirit Alpa if they have a problem with it because spirit will be the one who will report it to united.

I would absolutely not show up for UA indoc while still being employed at Spirit. That's a really good way to get walked out of class.

Well that answers that. Don't absolutely need the money so I'll just resign 2 weeks prior to class.

Yup. I handed in my SWA notice 36 hours prior to UA indoc. Would have done it earlier, but you never know when an airline will cancel classes...

When did you say your class date was? My last day at NK was my first day at UA. Don’t know if this helps you at all

10/14, which ironically is also my anniversary date with Spirit.

Oh, so as long as you've tendered your resignation before the start of indoc it's ok?

Honestly, the voluntary furlough is lucrative, but your UA career is way more lucrative. It’s tough, but I’d stick to what’s the closest you’ll get to a sure thing right now and that’s UA.

Who knew life would throw you just a curveball, but it’s at least somewhat poetic lol
