Where are the "official" acceptance numbers?

FedEx arrived today and spoke with a very pleasant Ms. Christi Nixon in IAH and submitted my bypass. Class dates are filled in seniority order with few exceptions, if you need a later date than they are offering you will need to bypass and reapply later. The current offering was Oct. 14th. FWIW she expects hiring to continue indefinitely as current hiring does not reflect upcoming retirements. The most recent offer has gone out to the next 250 on the list, they're expecting a high mil defer rate in this group. That's all I got, FWIW.

First Hand "Ted" Report
He stated, 50 letters went out last Friday and 200 more this week to bring the total to 350. He said, out of all the calls they made the last couple of weeks, 50% were military defer. They are trying to fill November and December classes with these latest offers. He did mention the fact that there are a few October slots being filled because a few pilots moved up to the November class.
Lastly, Ted said another 250 letters will go out in October, give or take a few, depending on the response of this round of offers.
That's all I know..

No official numbers; however, talked Christi in IAH recently. She said a total of 350 total letters sent out. She is expecting, based on conversations with United counterpart, to get 50% military deferrals. Finally, most interesting thing said was in response to my belief of going about half way thru the list to get the 177+-... She said, no she believed that they would go all the way thru the list.
Also, said bid late Dec. or early Jan. with training til summer ... then ramping back up in the fall. I told her I sure hope she is right!

I understand the military deferrals they're counting on but I don't think it'll end up being quite that high because:
1) Many of us double furloughees are military retirement eligible or have retired (I retired at age 49 with an active duty retirement), and
2) There's been a cutback in Guard/Reserve mandays available so it will be harder to hang out on military leave.
As far as ramping back up this fall, that makes sense. In 2013, the CAL side has just a bit under 250 retirements and the UAL side has around 225 retirements. Hopefully most will remember for quite a while just how 'little impact' that age 65 has had on their careers.
