Well that lasted a few minutes...back to our regularly scheduled depression.
This is not good news because of WHO or WHERE is recalling...look beyond a little at recent events and you'll see some faint hints of interesting effects taking place in the direction this career will take when the global economy rebounds. The way I see it shaping up, United will one of many choices in the near future IF you are in the correct position and ready.

There's a bunch of guys and gals that have been laid off, are probably underemployed and have a chance to fly for a Major Airline in the US, no interview, just show up. What's happening? 1 out of 9 are making the move. That tells you how bad this "career" has become.
Think the smart folks are getting out of the business. The US airline business is NOT what you'll see in the new show "Pan Am'. It sucks. No life, never home. always tired, low pay. It may be fun when your 25 and making $30,000/yr, sharing an apartment and dating 21 year old FAs. Wait a few years until your trying to have a family, pay a mortgage and actually have a life.

Got the "offer" phone call today. I bypassed, but Ted M. says the bypass ratio has returned to a more anticipated 1 in 4 with the latest wave of offers to go out. Offer was for a November class.

Back to 1 to 4 which is where it will likely stay.
There has been some talk on here about classes indefinitely even after the 178 in summer bid. Wonder how this could be and can only suspect anticipation of
Vacancies in the winter bid (if there are vacancies at all) and running into age 65 issues by summer next year. Anybody got any ideas on this?

A friend of mine got called last night for CAL position in Nov or Dec. He was Jan 17, 2000 hire. #6750 ish. I'd say they are through about 37% of the list so far.

Been there, done that........twice! We all survived. I would give anything for job security, however, I am a glutton for punishment.
I am 12/99 hire, got the letter and call earlier this week. I am going to take it. I need a job and am not current and therefore couldn't get a job towing banners on the jersey shore right now.
My old pay at UAL wasn't great, but is better than new hire and we desperately need the health bennies.
Just hoping to weather the reserve abuse until the new contract, if I can last that long!
I'll be sure to post the results of UAL/CAL differences in training, flying the line, etc.
