Kinda like Northwest's and Delta's difference, it's about the wording of questions.
"Have you ever...", or

Hey Shorty,

The way I read it is this.. If you are a 5 year UAL guy you get frozen at 5th year pay until you have been on CAL property 5 yrs or longer.

So if you are a 1st year UAL guy, (like us, same class 3/08) You will have to endure another full year of 1st year CAL pay because that is when the CAL's pay scale will exceed your last UAL scale. But on the bright side , you will not be on probation.

I could be wrong though.

Yeah, no probation.
First year guys like us won't matter. $32.46 (unless CAL's first year is higher, which I don't think is yet?) until we've been at CAL for a year, then second year CAL rate.
For the 5 year example you talk about, it will be what ever pay is higher. SO lets say a 777 FO get furloughed from UAL @ $116, s/he would stay at that rate until the CAL rate exceeds it (6 year Wide FO = $119). If no SLI or new contract, basically a six year pay freeze.
It is the HIGHER of the rate you were getting at UAL, or the years of service at CAL.

I'm just trying to get back on the list....

I hear Ya, but it just sucks that after leaving a great job to go to UAL only to get furloughed within 6 months (albeit rolling the dice, like we all did) and now knowing management more than likely planned it all along. Soon you will get that chance to come back after 3+, probably 4+ years later to start all over at 30 something dollars an hour. (barring a super contract). Sweet.

I hope the new JCBA gets something better for furlough time like longevity, but I am jaded and do not hold my breath or remotely expect it.

I am one more pilot that will respectfully decline and bypass the offer of employment at Continental airlines.

Maybe someday UAL will have its act together? Until then, Cheers.

What about the few that have been at United more than a year but did not end up doing their P/C..then got furloughed in grace month,... so they never went to the year 2 pay....what would they go to CAL at?...2 year pay or 1 year?

1st year UAL.
It is the highest of what you were making at UAL when you got furloughed, OR how many years you are at CAL....

I thought that you went to Year 2 pay when your longevity anniversary happened and not whether you had a PC or not?

Anybody gotten a call lately or gotten any intel on where they are in regards to hire dates and class dates?

Thought it was interesting the last communication said they expect to go to 600 to get the 75 needed for the Oct-Dec classes.

Friday Oct 31st there were several calls to guy in the 1/17/2000 hire class. They were offered Nov and Dec classes.
