Well, like they say: Time flies when you're havin' fun!!! (sort of)
PS- going OK over there? Trying to get back on with the other carrier out of there...

I don't think that other place would be bad to work for. The drive to ACY is quite easy for me...but it sucks if you are a commuter or don't live in one of the cities they serve.

Hopefully things will keep moving at CAL/ UAL.... They already sent out almost half the list.

I think there may be some confusion about getting "called". I'm a 11-99 hire and received the letter from CO on 9-25 asking if I would like to accept or bypass. They mailed out 250 letters on 9-23 and recipients have until this Friday to respond. If you don't resond you are considered a "bypass" at this time. You can do this once for the CO offer. Once the two week window to reply closes (10-7) they will make calls in seniority order to fill classes and only then will anyone in the latest 250 mailing know what class they will be in. The other "call" that is happening, and what I think is leading to some confusion, is the call from a United furlough coordinator asking what people intend to do. They are basically trying to get a feel for the acceptance rate before the actual numbers are in and have indicated to me and several others I know that we will likely be in class in Nov. or Dec. You have to keep in mind that what guys are telling the UAL rep is not what matters, what matters is how many letters get returned to CO with a "yes" response. I'm guessing the UAL rep is getting decent info but I bet it's not 100% accurate as some have a very tough choice to make about leaving a current job. Hope this clears things up some. Since those of us hired in Nov. 99 haven't recieved offical class dates yet I'm sure someone hired in 2000 hasn't either...

DR,
A close friend talked to her yesterday and he was told that Dec. 13 was lining up for us also. He is 12 numbers junior to me and I was 416 on the list. Apparently after a slug of Mil guys/gals that had a high bypass rate they hit a small sample of folks that accepted at about 2:1. On a macro level I think it is still around 6:1 or higher though.

That's a good clarification and not unexpected by most for it to drop back to a 4-5 to 1 bypass over the long haul. The mil folks might be the odd deviation upwards.
They'll probably go down about 500 to fill the 2011 classes which still suggest a healthy 6.5 to 1 rate.
Has anybody heard if they expect vacancies in the Winter bid and if small classes will be run indefinitely up to age 65 effects?
