I got it, and I understand how the process works. I just thought the "kid in a candy store" comment a little misplaced. Turbulent times are ahead for many of us on both sides.

OK. Good. I don't fully understand how the system bid works, so I just wanted to make sure you understood how the vacancy/displacement bids work.

Sled,

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't there some discussion about Pan Am stacking the bids prior to United acquiring the Pacific routes?

I think I read in the past that Piedmont did the same thing before the US Air integration, upgraded just about everyone to captain.

No stacking at CAL, that is what the seniority gets you. Pilots hired early 2005 are 50% up the seniority list. Different airlines. Most of the pilots at CAL are still FO's due to the IRO position.

Shrek,
Typically 60% is north of the g line. Bases like ord and den have seen very senior g lines though. You could check the bes awards in pbs and see what that seniority is getting but the answer can be muttled by folks bidding down to reserve and folks who are below the gline getting a line. It will give you a rough idea though. Best way is to ask someone who is currently in the Bes. Generally 85% or better is enough to get you above the g line and off reserve.

So if you didn't have IROs, then the majority of you would be Capts correct?

I'm simply referencing deliveries during 2013/2014 that should be driving the current "expectations" and mainline growth, if any, that's driving current staffing requirements.

Exactly.
I was responding to this from you:

Prior to the merger, sUAL had more firm order A320s scheduled for delivery in 2013/2014 than sCAL had aircraft ordered for delivery during the period (737s and 787s). The deposits were paid and the sUAL orders are still on Airbus' official order page, so yes, let's play the game about expectations, retirements, and firm aircraft orders as I'm sure you would receive plenty of support from sUAL pilots.

UAL did not have more orders than CAL for delivery in 2013/2014 as you stated. Your "stacking" WB order was firmed up 3 months before the merger and are not being delivered anytime near your predicted timeframe. Everything else you mentioned happened after the merger, not prior as you originally stated.
