What should happen if you buy Virgin America?
Assume I am number 35 seniority out of 500 and 6 percent.

Should I be the same percentage on the combine seniority?

Obviously not . Soooo what gives here.

Let the Arbitrators decide, stop spending union dues money both MECs and get all together and start laying ground for 2017 NOW
Would it be a purchase of or merger of the company?
Would it be a merger of two ALPA carriers?
Apples and oranges.

Ok let's say Virgin turns ALPA

Then what? I am only trying to see the rationale here..

And again let the Feds decide and look forward because Delta passed UAL and AMR will soon

Oh, so you would turn alpa just like cal did to try to get a seniority grab during a merger? Nice, hey why not?

Do you really think the pilots of any airline decide the direction the airline will take. Never have and never will.
If you look at Jeff's United you see a brown shoe in a room full of tuxedoes. No comparison to either American or Delta. We are being outclassed by their management and there is nothing the pilots of UAL or cal can do collectively to change that.

CAL went ALPA long before any merger rumors. If Virgin was ALPA and a merger, then I'd be for a relative seniority. It's fair.

Sure otto if you say so, but sorry I don't agree with anything you say, we didn't want you and I can't beleive it went down the way it did and yes I expect the ual guys to take it in the shorts. PLenty of rumors before you guys came back but hey keep telling yourself what you want and maybe you will feel better but I doubt it.

I guess that makes the CAL pilots smarter than they get credit for and all-knowing, all-foreseeing to boot. CAL pilots voted to return to ALPA in spring of 2001 because they saw that spring 2010 merger with United coming like an out of control freight train.

Not just this merger but the way the industry was headed if you paid attention at all, was not thinking smarter was thining more opportunistic. By the way 2001 would be a great place to start bringing you into the list.

OK, so what is your relative seniority without 1437 furloughs, that are not on property, taken out of the equation? If that's the case, CAL pilots should get relative seniority based on firm a/c orders before the the merger! Adding those pilots, would move them way up the list. Keep it real, and it won't hurt as much. I'm prepared for it to hurt, are you?

and the FIRM a/c orders of UAL....they don't count? RIGHT You are ASSuming that the furlougees will get stapled even though they have LONGEVITY. We will wait and see on that one. BTW, even IF your logic were sound, Mr. Hoss would be 86% with all furloughees absent from the equation, not 98%. But I can't find 'relative seniority' anywhere in the Merger Policy.

Just "keeping it real"
