In my message on January 16, I provided an overview of our hiring plans for this year. I
indicated that our forecast called for us to hire 769 pilots in 2015, a very aggressive
plan necessary to address the fact that nearly half of our current seniority list will retire
in the next 10 years. However, the latest forecast from Manpower Planning calls for us
to hire 1,040 pilots this year.
Through March 31, we have welcomed into Basic Indoc Training 18 pilots returning
from furlough, 20 returning from leave of absence and 240 new hires for a total of 278
pilots.

1040 would be the best year since 1997! At least on the United side of the house.

I'm 35 and my SSN is low 2000s. No idea how those play in yet, new to the forums.

It's still surreal this is happening. I get back from overseas mid Apr so that might delay my class date for the drug screen. We'll see.

Cheers to all the new hires and future hires!

Impressive numbers! Any idea if that will maintain the target through 2016 as well? I think retirements pick up slightly next year as well.

I have a question regarding airline apps:

United's addendum section asks for 4 references that LIVE within the United States that can cover, as best as possible, the last 10 year period of my life. However, I've only lived in the states for 8 months. I have plenty of good Canadian references that I can use.

My question is: Should I try and provide 4 references of US residents even though it will only cover the past 8 months? Or should I use references that live in Canada? Surely HR would understand this scenerio?
