Many 76T pilots are VERY pleased, as they were able to exercise their seniority in the 756 just as if the fleets were merged. As it should be. After all, a 757 is a 757. Anywho, it's DONE. No sense in crying now.

What happens when the company limits Captain bids to only current F/O's on the same airplane? It does save the company a little money. Why not, BAT is a good example of this logic.

Example: Senior Airbus/737 Captain watches as pilots junior to him are moved to the 756 Left Seat, where he could fly the 767-400 at 747/777 rates and he's locked out. Tell me how that doesn't go against seniority?

Every pilot that has lost money because he was locked out of the BAT bids should file a grievance and everybody else should lobby their LEC officers to fix this abrogation of seniority.

Maybe a silly question from this half winger but if the effective date on the bat was October and I still haven't received the training, do I have bump rights since I am technically not displaced just moved?

Limit Captain bids to only FOs within the fleet? that's crazy talk. That's not what BAT does. BAT is about 756/76T laterals WITHIN fleet, SEAT, and base. There is no net gain. It is a win/win for ALPA and the company, which is why ALPA agreed to it. Why should a 76T guy suffer though 80% relative seniority month to month when he could have 15% on what is essentially the same fleet within his base? NO BAT would abrogate seniority. BAT is innovative and fair. I get it, and no, I have not used it.

Not crazy talk, the BAT sets a precedence for exactly that.

Innovative is a reach. Ask that senior 300 or 320 Captain based in EWR watching people junior to them taking seat that should rightfully be theirs if seniority was honored. The FAA said that the fleets could not be combined as common aircraft. Hence separate fleets, 756 and 76T. If there had been a system wide bid these guys would have been allowed to exercise their seniority to fly the 756 or the 76T and not restricted from them.

The good and bad about seniority is that it should always prevail and neither the company or ALPA should be allowed to trump seniority for any reason.

You mean like from October 2010 - September 2013 (and beyond)?

Yes, not a CAL - UAL thing.

"Ask that senior 300 or 320 Captain based in EWR" should read "Ask that senior 737 or 320 Captain based in EWR"

Exactly my point. Its about pilots being given seats at an airline that all the pilots aren't able to bid and the frustrations that come with that.

You are not technically displaced. Forget the T and the 5 your fleet is the 757/767. As long as you stay in your base and on your fleet you are not displaced. So if you don't get trained you don't get trained. Now if it was a surplus bid then you would have displacement rights.

Also all New hires need to keep in mind that DMA training is not a PC or a LOFT so your base month stays the same and you will still have to do your proby ride. so you get three seperate training events this year.

The 756 and 76T (T for transition...as in transitioning to 756) WILL be one fleet. Until that day, we have BAT. BAT is the closest thing to one fleet they could think of. This isn't rocket science and it's not a precedent for upgrading out of seniority...don't know where you got that. ALL BAT Captains were already Captains within the 756/76T fleet.
